Stubble

Are there any machines which allow you to keep stubble? Cos when I use a razor all my facial hair comes off, but there comes a point about 4 days after I shave where I have stubble which isnt scruffy and suits me, but the day after it gets a bit too long. Shaving is tiresome, Im sure there are machines designed for this (im thinking beard trimmer?)

Just use a normal hair strimmer, like the barber uses, you can get them everywhere... Argus for example.

This is what I do. Works a treat. Get one you plug in NOT a battery operated or rechargeable one. You just take off the plastic blade length things that you'd use for your hair. You can then adjust it between a zero length and about 4mm length with a lever they usually come with.

I once had a rechargeable beard trimmer.. What a piece of crap. It pinched more than cut, wasn't adjustable enough. Just terrible. It was also very overpriced.

I now have something a lot like this:

And I recommend you get something similarly sturdy looking with that same leaver on the side.

The head actually isn't too big for the crevices of your face as you can angle it to your will and it works great. You gotta take care of it, oil and clean it everyonce and a while. But it's still one whole lot less effort than shaving

that trimmers designed for your head hair aint it?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009VPG1I/qid=1135802829/sr=1-4/ref=sr_1_10_4/026-7306105-8258856

how about that one. my dads got it and ive tried it. pretty good.

theres nothing wrong with rechargables, just make sure you dont buy a really cheap one.

nicky clarke also make good trimmers and the good thing about them is they take aa rechargable batteries which means you can change the originals with more powerfull batteries meaning longer trim time which is always a good thing.

oh and unless your planning on cutting your hair at home, there aint no point getting something like the previous post mentioned. my opinion though.

I know what you mean, i spent a long time looking for one of these machines. But all were a 2/1 jobby hair trimmer and beard thing which didn't cut it... i was looking for that neat stubble.

Then i found the above, it's specifically designed for maintaining stubble. I've got that one, it's excellent because the level of stubble is almost perfect. And it's done with ease, no changing clippers around. Those big sturdy beard trimmers that have been posted just leave you with a bushy kind of stubble and looks untidy.

Plus, for that price, it's really good.

I used to have the one taran posted and that's excellent too.

Yes it will, but you'll be disappointed because it just won't look the same. Be grateful however, sturdy hairs are a pain.

I use a beard trimmer now, it's quite a cheap babyliss thing but it does a great job. So much less hassle than shaving and I think stubble looks a million times better than clean shaven (although it is obviously not for everyone, depends on how thick the hairs are, face shape etc). As a bonus, it has had 100% approval from my female friends... which is nice!

Also, when I used to wet-shave, I had a lot of spots on my face and a nasty rash, but now I use the trimmer I have really clear skin. So to be honest I don't think I could ever go back to proper shaving again.

I agree with you, before i actually found machines which could stubble for you, i kept silly facial hair so as to not have a clean shave. But i haven't shaven in a long time now.

I shave about 3 times a week and find it a hassle to be honest.

So how often do you lot tend to trim your stubble then?

Every day if I'm using trimmers.

I also heard of some razor which has blades that you can reposition so you only trim the hairs when shaving, anyone seen one?

I have to agree. My boyfriend likes his stubble, reckons it makes him look like a dark haired kurt cobain (which I have to admit does), and while it does look sexy, it hurts when he puts his face against mine!

It is annoying.

I tend to shave every 4 days or so if I can get away with it. Normally I have to do it every 2 or 3 days at least when I'm on school placement :frown: Just takes up another 5/10 minutes in the morning, meaning I have to get up earlier :frown:
