I would have thought they were on a fairly equal level to each other.

well some people at cambrige say go to SOAS for quality then cambridge is cambridge and looks a fab place to be
well SOAS, i think is better for studying asian cultures, because your professors are better. but cambridge has the name.

cambridge...purely because it's cambridge...(better international rep, especially in asia... )
Defo Cambridge - mainly because of the rep, but also i know the lecturer for middle eastern philosophy at SOAS and he always mentions that he's drafted in by cambridge uni to do certain lectures on a specialist area that they don't posses much knowledge on and he says cambridge does that often with other lecturers from SOAS too. So you may be lucky and get the best of both worlds!
ahaha go for soas, its the underdog

hhmm what's SOAS like for egyptology does anyone know?
that sounds like a really interesting degree you know.

why dont u put cambridge 1st choice, and SOAS 2nd and leave to the gods to decide?

sorry if that's a ridiculous suggestion.

or better yet, go to open days for both and figure it out. if you have time to that is.
or you can apply to greenwich and get nothing
cambridgeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

without a second doubt

Does SOAS offer Early Civilisations of the Aegean and Near East?

Probably not, given that the Aegean would probably count as Europe. But why don't you send them an email and ask?
Go to SOAS, solely because they beat Cambridge on University Challenge
