God I hate that woman so much. You do not need to be that extreme with your diet, it's ridiculous.

this statement is wrong
it depends on alot things, genetics plays alot and alot allergics..etc
Going off ona tangent here - she says to drink warm water with lemon first thing in the morning and at night. I've seen this before, but what does it mean by warm water? Does it mean cold tap water that's been left to stand or what?

Warm water as in luke warm. It's above room temperature. Room temperature water would not help stimulate the digestive system which is the main reason for having the warm water. Hope that answers your question  .

Hey has anyone tried that Dr Gillian McKeith diet from You Are What You Eat? and is it worth it? supposedly its meant to be really good but it seems a lot of work, i mean juicing stuff and buying loadsa raw fruit and veg. thanx

In answer to this no I havn't tried the diet from you are what you eat. However I have incoperated a few of the things she said about in the book into my life. I would love to juice but I don't have a juicer as it stands so I can't do that :frown: . I already eat more than enough fruit and veg as I am somewhat of a health freak and also vegan :p: .

you can incorporate what she suggests into your diet if you want, but there is no need to be that extreme and she's not even qualified to make the kind of medical assertions that she does. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that natural, unprocessed foods, plenty of fruit and veg, pulses, fish and lean proteins are good for you.

Erm I don't mean to nick pick (or however you spell it) but fish isn't all that healthy for you and the same goes for lean proteins if what you mean by that is meat.
I don't think it is extreme to put some of it into my lifestyle as it does make sence to me. Also she might "not even be qualified to make the kind of medical assertions that she does" but it is healthy and most of what she says makes a lot more sence than those that are qualifed to say something.

you need the oils from fish though... and i didn't say it was extreme to put some of it into your lifestyle. I said that incorporating some of it into your diet was fine, and that the bulk of what she suggests isn't all that radical, and has always been known to be good for you.

You can get those oils from other sources (and you can't argue with me on that cause I and many other people do). Yes I have to agree alot of what she suggests is very obvious is a wonder that some people don't know it.

i'm not going to argue with you, my mother was a vegan for a year and she managed fine. then again, after 3 miscarriages she had to start eating meat in order to conceive. it's different for everyone. plenty of people find better health through giving up meat and meat products and I am happy for them. i would never suggest to a vegan or vegetarian that they should start eating meat- that's completely up to them. i was a vegetarian for a couple of months but kept getting ill and and was advised by my doctor to start eating meat again.

OMG no! She is weird rowena, did you know that she studies people's poo?

My BF dispises her and I don't blame him, her views are extremely strict and non-flexible, so if you do want to take her advice, take it with a pinch of salt

Actually don't, if you took that as a pun - because she hates salt too  :p:

I used to be a vegetarian and never got ill. The reason why I started eating meat again was because I stopped my beliefs of 'animals shouldn't be killed' etc. However, I've noticed I don't love the taste of meat anymore, it made me realise that meat isn't all that great. The only meat I actually like now is chicken and fish. But even if I'm given too much chicken, I can't manage to eat it all. I've never actually watched this show (my mum does) but by reading other people's comments I can tell what sort of "diet" this is. Since it's mostly based on fruit and vegetables (especially green), the reason why fish and chicken are the only two meats that come in is because pork and beef are too fattening etc, and you need protein in your diet (which chicken and fish give you) if you only eat vegetables, so you get a reasonable balance of nutrients.
