Could it work? - long distance

I have met someone on the internet who I really like, we are planning on meeting up sometime soon. Before anyone goes on about the dangers of meeting people from the net - I know!

He is at Derby Uni and I am Bangor, if we decided to take it further, is there any chance that this would work?

Sorry if it is a stupid question but I don't have any experience of anything long distance..

Thanks...

tis possible, but you have to remember you'll hardly see them, so its all a matter of trust really

I know people who met online and are now going to get married-They lived in Sweden and Denmark!
If it works now I guess it will when you meet up. Sure you could do without the distance but if you care enough about each other you'll work round it

Could be abit odd as you've only spoke over the internet, you may run out of things to say! :frown:

i met my boyfriend online, we have been together for four years and lived together for about 3 years. Give it a go, just make sure you plan your meeting and let a friend know where your going to be, incase he's a mad axe man. As far as long distance goes my chap was 250 miles away and visited every weekend, if he likes you i guess you'll be in luck!! :p:

Take it one step at a time. Arrange to meet up, and see if you both can get along in real life as well as online. See if the spark is still there as there's a possibility that you both may not feel as attracted to each other now that there's no mystery behind each other. If all goes well after a first meet, arrange another one!

It could work - the only thing i'd say is it might be weird first getting together like when you're long distance - as in - a year in the life of a long distance relationship = probably a month if you lived closer - so you may not get to know them properly for a loooooooooong time :-\

Yep, thanks! I've replied.

Thanks for all the other replies in this thread.
Nope
I know it's not the same sort of situation.. but my brother met somebody on holiday.. she lived in Aberdeen and we live in Chester (sort of..) - it's 8 hours away on train and they managed to keep it up for 3 years.

Now she's moved down here to live with him and they are still together 5 years on.. it can work - it's just down to the two people involved.

As for meeting people via certain websites.. *ahem* yea got for it! I am!

Edit:

Furthermore, I think i've met the most amazing person online - obviously will only be a matter of time before I find that out for sure, but i'm certain she will be!

Now, you can either meet this person you think is so great and confirm what you think about him, or you can not bother and just always think what might have been.. What's the worst that can happen? You just might not find that spark when you meet.. well you'll need to do it to ever find out! :p:

Very exciting though, i'm sure you'll agree..
My friend met someone on the internet who lives in America. They fell in love straight away, but we were all a bit hmmm, we didn't think he was real! However, they kept it going all through the summer, and all through her starting uni..having never met! This xmas, she flew out to meet him, and he IS real, and she's all happy, so yes - it works!
