I don't. What model do you want to be able to use?

I just bought an FX-83ES (By Casio). It's really cool! I wanted to know whether I could use it.

Natural Display is the pwnage. Plus you can do log to the base whatever and improper fractions!

Yeah and everything so much neater, you can easily type long calculations straight in and not worry about brackets and such.
Have you checked out the table function?
Reply 6
Nope! I'm checking that as we speak. Is it true you dont need to worry about brackets anymore? Like if I put in -2^2 does it give +4? I always waste time doing long calculations in parts.

No you still need brackets for that :p: , saved time on fractions though and stuff like that, its displayed in a clearer form, so no need for brakets there.

I would take both a decent graphic's calculator and also a natural displat in any core apart from C1. why dont they make ghaphics with natural display in? and why do schools not tell you to use a graphic or a natural display, if you do its very easy to get 100% in calculator.

This site lists calculators that could have been used on P1 and P3 papers (old syllabus). It doesn't apply to the Core units or any of the maths exams that are set now.

The old P1 and P3 papers used to say something like "you can only use a simple scientific calculator" and this site just lists the ones that were allowed for those two papers.
Am I allowed to use the Casio FX991ES??

Am I allowed to use the Casio FX991ES??

Yes, you are
I don't mean to sound offensive!!!... but how do you know?... Is there a webpage or is that the one you're using?..... because I don't want to walk into the exams and the teacher starts beating me repeatedly on the head with my calculator saying I can't use it....

What can that calculator do?, I was thinking about buying it before from argos. In description it mentions: "equation solver" "intergration" and also something about simultaneous equation ?
I thought it was rather like the FX-83ES.... but with a few more functions and its in a nice white as well.. ... I thought if you were allowed to use the FX-83ES .... you can use this one as well...

It has none of the prohibited features, namely:

symbollic integration

symbollic differentiation

differential equations, etc.

Also I've used the 991MS since GCSE and so have many of my friends and they've let us use it.

Btw: the integration and differentiation features on these Casio calculators are Numerical Integration and Differentiation. This will only calculate the area under a curve between two values or the gradient at a particular point.

Symbollic integration and diff are not allowed. This is when you can type something like ∫ln(x) and the calculator will display the actual integral.

Ah... But the one I'm waffling on about is the Casio FX991"E"S, the new one with natural display... I googled the 991MS and I know that one can be used for certain...

Yeah but since you're allowed to use other natural display calculators, why not this one? I mean if we can use the 991MS and the 83ES in the exams then why not the 991ES as well. Anyway I'm sure you can use it, so don't worry!
