Hello everyone I recently obtained at 2:1 in my degree from UCL in mathematics with economics however after in excess of 50 job applications, several interviews and assessment centres I am yet to get anything. I have applied to many different jobs such as Audit, Finance, Actuary, Risk but I simply haven't gotten anywhere. Clearly I am doing something majorly wrong to not get anything.

What should I do next? How am I supposed to improve at my interviews? Should I just give up on getting a graduate job and pray I can get a job in a supermarket or something?

Go abroad- you can get a job teaching English in Japan that'll pay about £25000...

Accountancy, actuarial, insurance or anything finance related, though my degree opens up far more doors than a degree in genetics as maths is highly sort after, however the problem is my ECs/relvant work experience lack.
I have to admit you are the first person I've ever spoken to who thinks genetics isn't sought-after.

It's not that they can check. It's that they have to receive a form of your tax history that will positively state that this is not true.

Ps OP - I've got a 1st class degree in genetics (UCL) and a masters (liv) and am having to do part time work to make ends meet. What sorts of things you going for?

I'm confused... Why is it you're having trouble finding a job?!

Mostly because I live in Liverpool and this city is utterly dead in terms of private sector investment.

That and I did teacher training and didn't realise I hated it 'til after most application deadlines had passed. I'm running through the left overs right now (I say left overs, I have interviews with PwC and Deloitte) but don't have anything solid for september. Working for my local MP as a caseworker which would be great if I supported his party or had an interest in politics but as neither are true it's just a min wage part time job with a bunch of clause 4 socialists.

Just wondering if you found a job in the end OP? If so, what did you find?
