asian smell

ok this is the situation, i am asian and i get weird looks and insults thrown at me because of my natural odour. this is not the problem as i can deal with narrow minded ignorance and i don't actually smell but it's just my skin colour...

the problem is at home, my parents cook a lot of odour foods with a lot of heavy masala, this is not the stuff you find in ready cooked meals and this makes it really smell.

I don't mind the smell but my question is, what should i do? i cant exactly tell my parents not to cook or use other stuff.

I do apologise.

The only thing constructive I can think of is looking at the other people and commenting on their body odur - eg: fish and chips smell.

Anyone who openly resents the aroma of 'Asian' food, whether to denote Oriental or Middle-Eastern, is less 'British' than you are.

Okay, so to clarify, you have body odour due to your diet. I'll assume you wash (scrub) everyday, it will help somewhat with this. Strong flavoured things like garlic, curry and strong spices cause this. If you have a real problem with it I recommend you try vary your diet a little more. Eat more fresh fruit and vegetables, fish and poultry, also less fried food, . This means cut down on the red meat too. Don't get me wrong, red meat is good for you but you can have too much of a good thing. People on atkins diets often smell like dog food due to the amount of red meat they eat. All of this will help. Even if you just introduce it on a small and gradual basis. They key word here is variety. You can keep eating your parents food, just less so. Bring some cereal, carrots, fruit into the house and nibble on them instead of having a massive lunch.

You're obviously uncomfortable with this odour as your posting here so maybe if you wore some perfume or cologne (I'm unaware of your sex) it would certainly help hide this smell as well as varying your diet. It's not as offensive as B.O. But if you're not used to it, it can be surprising.

I also suggest you google body odour and diet for greater reading.

Never had any problem like this myself, and I eat indian food most nights.

Only obvious things I can think of are:

1) Don't wear your outdoor clothes indoors (in order to prevent the food smell getting trapped in them)
2) Shower before going out
3) Avoid going in areas of your house where the smell resides, especially when the food is being prepared (the kitchen in particular, obviously)

Drop the anonymous tag if you intend to insult people and be taken even remotely seriously, otherwise be quiet.

I implemented that amendment some five minutes before you were able to relieve yourself to the tune of two, banal sentences whose 'content' is such as to prompt concern for little, other than how their composition might possibly have preoccupied you over such an inordinate length of time.

The person behind the insults on this thread has been warned. If they do it again they will get a 24 hour ban.

This is a message for any member that thinks they can use the anonymous post system to make insults you won't get away with it.
We cook loads of Indian food in the house too - just keep any of your clothes locked away in your cupboard! Before, I used to hang my coat and jacket in the hallway which was pretty near the kitchen. Yuck. I used to reek of haldi all the time  Have a shower everyday and always wear cologne before you go out.
