Same with my 15yo brother. Grown about four inches in six months, and eats almost constantly - must be eating 3,000 calories or more. Yet he's 9 stone and 5"9  I await the day he wakes up as a big blob when he's hit 25...

But in the meantime, stop focusing your energy on other people and actually get fitter yourself.
Had a good day exercise wise today! Went for a walk to the village with Mum this morning which took about 20 mins, not that much but more than I used to do before losing weight which was basically sit at home and not go anywhere . The went on a 10 minute walk with my boyfriend, and then we got bored and decided to visit our local driving range so we walked there and back which took two hours altogether.

So a good day in all, then.
Breakfast: Sultanas, muffin with scrambled eggs
Lunch: Tomato and chickpea soup with a small ciabatta, grilled halloumi and guacamole
Snack: Fruit frapucchino thing (the non-creamy ones), bag of crisps
Dinner: 1/2 a portion of fish and chips

Exercise: 40 minute run, 90 minute walk (about 30 minutes of which was carrying heavy shopping)

So not too bad a day, IMO. A couple not so healthy choices, but not excessive portions. At the moment, I'm trying to create most of my calorie defecit through exercise anyway, and I think I just about did that today.

-------

My boyfriend is coming round tomorrow, and we're going for a picnic  Have picked us up some nice food from M&S, but not too much unhealthy stuff. Then hopefully we're goin ice skaiting in the afternoon, which should burn a few calories

Please tell me you have the little glasses of wine where you peel the top off like a yoghurt!. Small things amuse small minds and all..

Ahhh, no, I didn't think of those :frown:
Although proabably for the best - I'm not sure wine plus ice skating would end well...
Good day today

Breakfast: Cup of tea (woke up too late)

Lunch: Cheese ploughmans sandwich (took one slice of the cheese out ), diet coke

Dinner: Pitta with chickpea curry, yoghurt sauce, and fruit for dessert, water

Snacks: fruit, 1/2 packet of crisps

Gym for about 1.5 hours. Said I did 1000 calories, but the machines are not very accurate!

I'm having my implant removed next week and my Mum's convinced that that will help me diet as my cravings will be reduced. It'll be interesting to see...

Im due to have mine changed in a few weeks - will you let me know if it helps? Iv always been interested to know if my weight gain was due to the implant or due to the fact i was working in a coffee shop at the time and therefore possibly snacking on too much cake.

Does anybody know how accurate the machines are at the gym for calorie loss?? Ta in advance

They normally have a set body weight that they will calculate the calories for, but you can change the options so it'll calculate a more accurate amount of calories burnt for your body weight, ie I think the ones at my gym tell you the calories burnt for a 65kg person but if you go to the advanced options you can enter your own weight. But still they are just an estimate for an 'average' person. It doesn't take account of your body fat percentage/muscle mass, your heartrate or your fitness level (if your body has gotten to using a certain machine it'll probably burn less calories then if it's the first time you've used it).

Yeah, I will. I'm fairly sure I'll lose a little while my boobs go down to a normal size! but as to whether or not it reduces cravings... We'll see! I might treat myself to a chocolate bar after having my skin sliced open and tweezers used to pull a 5cm rod out of my arm though :teehee:

My friend put on weight whilst she had hers in as it made her reallly hungry so she'd end up having late night binges and stuff, and when she got it took out her eating went back to normal and she got the weight off quite quickly. Obviously it'll effect each person differently though, she also got really bad mood swings and bad skin whilst she was on it so I guess like all medications it's just not right for everyone. And yes, sugar sounds like a good idea after having it taken out

Hmm, increased hunger and late night binges do sound familiar, but as it was my first year at uni at the same time it's hard to say there's a causal link!

Oh my God, my skin! I've gone from really dry skin with no spots to greasy, covered in spots skin!

Yeah, exactly. Which is why I'd still recommend the implant, despite it causing me nothing but trouble!

I'm so jealous! That sounds lovely!
I've had a bit of a bad week! I went to visit my boyfriend in London last weekend, and it got me back into bad habits. He made me a three-course dinner on Friday night - fatty/salty cheese, bacon and pastry for a starter, stodgy risotto for main, and cheesecake for dessert. Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely delicious, but it must have been about a zillion calories!

Then on Saturday we went to a foodie festival, followed by dinner and drinks with our friends...Sunday was a picnic, which is always dangerous because you just keep nibbling all afternoon! I was saved slightly because we were walking all weekend, which is better than nothing...

I got home to see that my dad had stocked up the freezer with half-price Ben and Jerry's ice cream. He is so cruel!

Luckily I've been behaving better over the last couple of days. I was craving a takeaway last night, so I made a much healthier chicken and chickpea curry, with homemade oven-cooked (rather than deep-fried) onion bhajis and naan bread. Still about 600 calories, but I bet it would've been at least double that if I'd caved and gone for the takeaway!

I've been looking at my lecture timetable for next year as well, and I've decided that I'm going to fit loads of sport around it. I want to try rowing before I leave uni, and I have no 9am lectures next year so I'll have time to shower after 7am outings! I also want to get back into netball (the only sport I ever enjoyed in PE lessons), and try yoga to improve my flexibility. Change for life indeed!
I am actually finding it impossible to reach 1200 kcals! I just don't get hungry enough to want more food but I'm really worried that because I'm eating less than 1200 I'm not going to lose any weight :frown: Any advice?

I'm having the same problem at the moment. It seems unnatural to eat more food when you're not hungry! Just try and fill it with healthy calories- an extra piece of fruit, or maybe sprinkle some seeds or oats into cereal to bump up the calories a bit. That's what i've been doing.

I don't find it impossible, but I find it "impossible" without grabbing a biscuit in the evening to make up for lost cals!!

Plan your meals/snacks in advance then you'll KNOW you're going to eat enough :-).
Just been on hols to Cornwall for a week, and of course, typical English summertime hit.....rain rain rain.....so ended up sat inside drinking tea and eating cake/biscuits! :O

On the plus side, back to the healthy side from today: Muesli with fresh fruits and a cup of tea for breakfast, tuna salad with wholemeal bread for lunch, roasted salmon, new potatoes and veggies for tea
I'm not doing any exercise until after I've seen my GP. I don't want another run like yesterday's so I'll just take it easy and watch my intake. Which at the moment is mainly tea because we have no food in the house. Well, we have food, but nothing that goes together to make a meal. I'm hoping my Dad's going shopping soon (we've just run out of milk and I need it for my tea! :headhurts:smile: but there's no guaranteeing he will.

Thanks, that's really helpful
For dinner I normally make a lentil daal which is only 250 kcals and I love jacket potatoes and tuna but I don't normally have time to cook them when at uni all the time but seeing as term hasn't started yet I'll have time. I always think of that meal as quite unhealthy but I wouldn't have it with mayonnaise and I'm normally 300 kcals short of 1200 at the end of the day so might be a better idea. I don't tend to eat many carbs (only have them if I have porridge oats for breakfast) so maybe thats where I should get more calories from.
I came back from my trip to Brighton yesterday and weighed myself. It wasn't pretty XD But I know that the time of day alters your weight. Does anyone know what time of day gives you your "true" weight? I am starting my change for life on Monday, so will weigh myself then to get a proper start point etc, and will then weigh myself then each week.

My Mum wants to lose weight and get fit as well, so we're both going to start on Monday. My Dad will end up doing it too, since it's only the three of us actually at home, so that should make things a bit easier.

I went to the Drs on Wednesday before I went to Brighton for allergy testing though (Turns out I have a VERY bad nut allergy that I had no idea about... I only knew I was allergic to pesto, whereas I had the worst reaction to Pistachio that the Allergy Specialist had ever seen... neither he, nor the nurse, had ever seen a reaction which had tracked up the arm, and I've still got patches despite it being three days ago, and having taken allergy tablets! I'm also allergic to most of the other nuts they tested, but I've always avoided them anyway because my Mum is allergic, so that's not going to affect my life, particularly, other than knowing I need to be more cautious). My diet is appalling, and I know that. I'm not good at eating fruit or veg, and I don't like the texture of some forms of meat (roast meat because of the texture), and he said he wanted me to see a dietician :/ So starting on Monday, we're going to start trying me on some new foods - fruits in crushed ice smoothies, for example, because then I won't get the texture, trying some of the fish I've always avoided and so on. I'm sure that I'll end up eating slightly more than I am now, but it will be healthier than I eat now - which consists of HUGE amounts of carbs, and little else. So it should work out better in the long run - not to mention, it's really embarrassing to be as fussy as I am about food. I can only get away with so much due to my allergies!

I'm getting a bit anxious, because for me, it's not just a change for life in that I need to lose weight - I really am 100% changing my diet from eating oven food, pasta and potato, with no fruit or veg, to a decent diet (hopefully). I also will start to exercise for the first time, like ever. I want to do C25K, but I would like to get my fitness levels up to a better level before I start.
