Has anyone ever been to Weight Watchers?

I am toying with the idea of joining and I just wanted to know about other people's experiences there.

I've never been myself but know people who have.

My ex-bfs mum lost 5 stone with weight watchers.

I think it can work for you, but I'm of the opinion that unless you're in the right mindset then nothing will really work for you- but some people do find it better to be part of a group and that that helps them to get motivated.

Maybe go along to a session and see if you like it and then decide?

i went with my mum once ( she didnt want to go by herself, and offered me those cute lil sweets they have) and it was friendly so if your worried about that, dont !

I never went, but i followed their point system for a while, and it's bloody good.

people so often concentrate on calories, when it's actually the saturated fat that's the problem.

It means you don't cut out any of the nice cake you want, but means you can only have so much...

It's useful knowing the 'point' value of the foods as well. i didn't realise how fattening/non fattening certain foods were.

my godmother lost like 3 stone on it, and she's completely changed by it.

Seems to me to be the most realistic of the weight -loss programmes as it doesnt involve going out and buying stupid 'apoopoo beans' and stuff.
I went a few years back and it was fun and supportive etc. the only downside I found was that I was the youngest there by about a zillion years so I didn't go back after that. It can get quite expensive though if you totally buy into their philosophy with their books, snacks etc
im thinking of going next week

I would recommend it, it works

Its about a fiver a week though, work remembering if you're poor at the moment like me :frown:

But if you need that motivation, ie, to know you're being weighed every week, its priceless

I tried it for about a week. I didn't like it because I didn't like the idea of running out of points. Also its pretty hard to guage the portion size.
I way prefer slimming world because you dont have to count the portion size of loads of food so its a lot more manageable and sociable.

just eat properly and do some exercise. save yourself lots of money!

If you are looking to revolutionise how you eat rather than just lose a few pounds, it won't cost much more because you will be saving money on eating fast food (eg mcdonads...which is pretty expensive for what it is.) and then buying more fruit and veg which can be very cheap. The money you are spending on weight watchers will go unnoticed because you are saving money already.

Thanks for your replies, very helpful people:biggrin:

I think I'll go along to a couple of meetings to see what it's like first but it was good to hear about other people's experiences.

I don't want to lose masses and masses of weight as I'm not overweight to begin with(just a little larger than I'd like to be...)so I'm thinking of using it as more of a starting point to lose the weight and change my eating habits.I know that knowing you are going to be weighed every week must be a HUGE incentive not to reach for the Quality Street!
To be honest, you will only need to go for a few weeks.
Keep all the leaflets and stuff they give you and then you can pretty much do it all from home.
you can get weight watchers points calculaters as well off limewire.
