Which lawyers can earn 100 million in a year

edit: as for other high earning careers (potentially): performance in media (film, music and sport). But being amazing at finance is the way to earn megabucks. Not that megabucks is necessarily the reason to do the career. Far from it in fact...

I mean an average wage for an average IB is about the same for a top lawyer.

At least lawyers have *slightly* more interesting careers.

What large and international law firm can say this year the average bonus it paid across the whole company was half a million?

Which law firm can create a new division and earmark average bonuses over 3 years of just under 10 million to all staff?

IB is a different kind of league to other jobs.

Quite easy to dispute that without any clear resolution.

10 million isn't unheard of, and a couple of million quite common. Sure, there's not the uber-peak with Law, but then there are only a few top IBs, so being a partner is a bigger thing than being one in one of the thousands of law firms.

For the majority of people going into it, Law isn't that far away from IB. It's probably in 2nd of the pay scale - higher than accountancy and probably consultancy, higher than jobs in business or any specialisms I can think of, higher than medicine and government. That's most of the grad careers. So it's close to IB in being 2nd, even if not in terms of absolute wage packets.
