Do students pay for eye tests?

I need to get my eyes tested but I'm a bit broke at the moment. I've read it costs about £30 which I just don't have disposible at the moment. I'm guessing that university students must be exceptions to this as we don't have an income but I can't find anything to confirm it on online. Anyone know? There's lots about free prescriptions for under 19s, people on tax credits, are pregnant etc but there doesn't seem anything about uni students.

Disregarding the test entirely, how do you intend to pay for the glasses/new lenses (which cost more than the test)? I'm pretty sure that you don't get any kind of free treatment on the NHS as a student at opticians unless you're diabetic/pregnant etc.

I already have the glasses. I just keep getting sent letters about needing my yearly eye test which I'm thinking it would be sensible to have. I will find a way for paying for it if I have to. I just don't want to be forking out when I might not have to.
