Inverse Navel Piercings - What Do You Think?

I already have a standard navel, but I'm bored with it and want to add to it!

I'm thinking of getting an inverse navel (opposite to standard - upside down) as well, so my belly will look a bit like this...

Problem is, my standard navel is a bit wonky - the top ball is slightly more right than the bottom...I'm wondering whether I should get the top re-pierced and then get the bottom done, or just get the bottom done regardless.

Any suggestions!? Or if anyone has got this piercing, any advice...what is it like getting pierced etc. Have researched on BME and I'm really positive at the moment!!!

Thanks a lot :p:

i just have the standard one, with a small bar like she has.
i happen to like the look of both though, but i'd wear a small bar underneath too.
but i'm not a big fan of gems.

i know a few guys who got this done too.

i say go for it.

I have one, so I like them. Heh. My standard one is slightly wonky but as long as the bar is well-fitting you can't really notice it. If you want, get the top one repierced but I wouldn't think healing both at the same time would be too fun so it'd be a while before you get the inverse done...

You have to have a fairly pronounced lip at the bottom of your navel - your piercer might not think you're suited to it, so be prepared that you might not have it. However, I hardly have any lip at all but I could get mine done, and it healed quicker than my standard, and also didn't migrate at all (whereas my standard migrated 3mm or so in a couple of months, then settled).

It's slightly more painful than standard but neither are too bad. It's over quickly, heh.
So here is a pic of my current piercing (sorry it's a bad image, I took it on my phone!!)

As you can see (hopefully!!!) it is wonky, with the top ball being further right than the bottom.

I don't know whether I should have this piercing re-done so it is straight and leave it to heal before getting the inverse, or just get the inverse

I would only wear a small barbell in the inverse as two bigger balls would make it looked cramped!!! What do you think?

You might find that putting a barbell with 2 small balls might help your standard piercing look straighter. You could also try wearing a CBR in it but that's more uncomfortable for most people, they get caught a lot and stuff. Why don't you get the inverse first, and after 5 or 6 months if you really don't like the top one looking wonky, then repierce the top?
Kate.

I woul definitely wear a bar with two small balls at either end anyways. I don't like CBR's really...I've worn them before but they tend to be too heavy and pull my piercing down, even the lighter ones!

Well next time I'm going to go into town I'll go to the piercer and ask them. Now would be the best time to do it though as I start my sports again soon and I don't want to catch it!!! I probably will get the inverse done regardless and then get the top one re-done if I really don't like it

Thanks for the advice :p:

Hehe, I've seen a few people with just the inverse piercing, but I want like the one in the pic, one on top and one on bottom!!!

I'm looking forward to getting it done now!!! :p: Just gotta persuade my parents!!! Otherwise I'll have to wait til Feb when I'm 18, so either way, not that long!
I really wanted an inverse navel but the bottom of my bellybutton isn't defined enough ... so instead I want to get my navel pierced twice again at 11 o'clock and 2 o'clock. Not got the cash at the moment though :frown:

Mine doesn't look defined enough at all, in my opinion, but it healed really well. I also want some diagonal ones, too...but I think it may be a bit crowded. And I'm not too fond of healing two at once =P At the moment I just want my industrial to heal before anything else, anyway.
Yeah but I don't have a bottom to my navel at all :frown: ... I am worried about it looking overcrowded if I have it pierced twice again cause I have quite a small navel anyways, but apparently it'd be fine to have it done. Yeah I don't like the idea of having two to heal at the same time, but I don't like the idea of walking around with a half finished navel project either *LoL*.
My navel doesn't look that defined, but on BME there are lots of pics of people with inverse piercings, many whose navels are very undefined, and some are really small with big projects!! It may depend on the discretion of the piercer, but then I know there's safety issues as well.

I hope I can get it done!!! :p:

Do I sense sarcasm there!? :p:

Would it be advisable to try an inverse if the standard top piercing has rejected twice? I really do want a belly piercing but when I had mine repierced it rejected within 6 weeks :frown:
My friend's belly rejected twice (they said her stomach muscles were too tight! If only we all had that problem! ) but she's got it done again now underneath the scar tissue, as it is stronger and harder to reject through again.

I suppose it depends how deep they pierce it...my standard is quite deep, but I've seen other people's piercings done in different places which are quite close to rejecting completely.

Best thing would be to ask a variety of piecers if you have a few shops in your area, and see what the main outcome is.

Piercing through the scar tissue hurt so much that I nearly fainted and was sick! The piercing was really deep but it still rejected almost straight away :frown: I don't want the pain of getting pierced through 2 sets of scar tissue, that's why I was considering an inverse, plus it's something a bit different!
Yeah I have to say, when she told me about it I felt sick at the thought!!!

The skin at the bottom of the navel where you get the inverse is slighter thicker I think. It's supposed to be more stiff when getting pierced, like it takes more force to get th eneedle through. It sounds horrible, but maybe that would mean there's less chance of it gettng rejected?

:puke:

Ok well I'll have to really think about that one! Ow ow ow and if it rejected again I'd be so gutted! Thanks for the advice though... Think I'll wait till the summer exams are over before taking the plunge
Hehe!!! I don't want to wait...I need to persuade my parents!! :p:
I have an inversed navel peircing. (by itself - not top and bottom!!), I had this because if i had had it done normal, it would have been very wonky! But, i love it!! Thought it might cause probs with clothes and stuff but hasnt! No probs at all, and as for the pain - I can't compare it to normal navel piercing but i dont expect there would be MUCH difference.
