Faking GCSE?

I just noticed on my CV I wrote down I got a C in English when it's actually a D. ****. Well I got good marks from IELTS, and everything in my degree and masters degree is accurate. Should I notify the companies I applied to now or let them know if they find out? Maybe scan in my certificate and alter my grades? It's a paper with a security mark on the bottom. I can cut out that security mark and place it on the new printed paper lol.

Do you think they'll just briefly look at my degree certificate and not care about GCSE marks enough to carefully examine my certificate?

Strictly speaking any inaccuracy like that on a CV is grounds for an instant dismissal. However, you have to weigh up the relevance of the qualification and the type of job. If it was English or Maths, then you should change it, mainly because in most employers' eyes, the difference between a C and a D is the difference between a pass and a fail. If was in RE or something irrelevant to the role, then you might not bother. Is it the sort of job that is likely to check all qualifications?

If it wasn't a relevant subject and it wasn't a case of writing a C instead of a D I'd be inclined to ignore it. But it is a C-D issue, so if it was a relevant subject and a qualifications based career, I'd mention it.

Presumably they specifically asked for your GCSEs, even though you have a post graduate qualification? If not, lesson learnt, don't make life difficult for yourself.

Phew. Just checked the job I wanted to get into the most. It didn't ask for my GCSE details but I did upload my CV for the system to extract information from. Don't think it'll get asked.

I'll just fake my English GCSE mark in case I ever get asked by some companies. Doubt anyone will find out.

Wtf are you doing with your GCSE details on a CV when you have a Masters degree is the first question.

If it is English, I'd tell them, especially if I wasn't a native English speaker. Faking your evidence is the worst possible solution, in fact it's just idiotic.

They might reject me if I tell them and English is my native language. Besides, I only got a D out of laziness. I bet if I take English GCSE now I'd either get a A or a B because I've done plenty of reading during uni.

That's so not the point.

Because they don't care about GCSE's which become more and more irrelevant as you proceed through academia and the only they care about is your Degree result.

But employers do sometimes use GCSE Maths and English as a way of filtering out applicants even if they have a Degree, Master's, PHD or MBA which is a bit sad really as they all outweigh the benefits of GCSE's.

you'd also have to do coursework depending on which exam board you go with and possibly not be able to do it till november as obviously exam season just passed. Also with course work you have to get it authenticated.

Yeah I spent the past year (well between october and june) re sitting a couple of gcse's.

I wouldn't do it if you don't need to.

And it probably won't be checked if you have a degree and masters degree, though I would amend the cv for future jobs and maybe not even include gcse's.
How do you fake your gcse grades is the possible ?

Leave out GCSE results on your CV. There are a few job where a pass in GCSE English is mandatory and here you would have to reveal the situation and see if there is a way through. Interestingly for my current graduate job there was a basic English test as part of my recruitment, so someone thinks this is important and wanted to make an independent check.
