it's bad as in wearing glasses all the time, but not that bad. Nothing should happen to you, I mean there are people with much worse prescriptions.

-2 isn't so bad.

The numbers refer to the curve of the lens used to correct the sight.

Minus figures mean that you're short sighted. I'm -2.25 in my right eye, and -3 in my left.

I know someone who is -10, according to her sister

This article reckons that "Myopia (short sightedness) of 6.00 diopters or greater is considered high, or severe, myopia." So you're not so bad. Even so, while I'm only half of what is considered severe, being without glasses for a long period of time, particularly in public, can be quite frustrating, even frightening. I hate my eyes.

-2? Consider yourself lucky. :p:

I don't remember what my glasses are but I think left -8 and right -7 ish. Contact lenses I know for sure: left -7.50 and right -6.00 AND I have astigmatism.

What does it mean on a prescription if you have a eye sight of –2 , I know that’s bad, but how bad. I can’t seen things far away at all. It’s just a total blur. My friend who had –2 aswell, ending up getting a bad eye infection and is not partially blind in one eye.

-2 is officially "mild", I think.

I'm -3.75 in both eyes. With a teeny weeny bit of astigmatism in one, I think.
