maths with economics i believe. sounds harder.

i meant in terms of how hard it is to gain entry to the course, not how hard the course content is.
Probably Economics and Statistics.

Bear in mind, they are very different courses. Maths with Economics is only 25% Economics.

Eh Maths with Eco at UCL is probably the hardest Maths and Economics course in the country, focusing heavily on Pure Mathematics.
Application : place ratio has been around 20:1 and last yr they had to makes offers as high as AAAa so in that sense it maybe easier to get into the BSc Economics at UCL than Maths with Eco
However this yr Dr.Bowles have more flexibility over the admission but i don't know to what extent this will increase the number of intake. They have appointed 2 Mathematicions (who know Economics) and they will be teaching in the maths department some of the first yr Economics (with more emphasis on Mathematical Economics)

Good course overal, downsides would be :
1. Too much emphais on Pure Mathematics
2. Too little emphasis on Statistics (especially for BSc)
3. Simply too hard...Maths and Economics is a hard course anywhere but this one really takes the p**s
I don't see why...

It is a degree with 75% Maths units and 25% Economics units.

well you would expect this because it is Maths WITH Economics meaning the Economics is always going to be minimal. I do agree it has become very competitive - last ear the requirements were only ABB, and this year it has shot up to AAA

I don't think the requirements last year were ABB, because 2 of my friends in my year needed AAA to get in.

well it may have been a mistake by UCAS, but on their website it said ABB.

Anyway, today:

grades AAA including Mathematics. Double Mathematics not required, but some experience of Pure Mathematics is a strong advantage 38 points overall with grade 6 (Mathematics), 6, 6 at Higher level

does anyone know how many students there are in Maths with Economics?

well i know a girl who graduated in 04 from Maths with Economics at UCL and she said there were about 60 people. This may have changed now though as the course is more popular.
you must not forget that the alevels are getting easier and there is a much highter emphasis on personal statement aswell as alevels.
