HELP! - Sleep

Last 4-5 days I have been unable to sleep until 4-5am in the morning. I've tried having a hot drink, read a book and just close my eyes all before I go to sleep but it did not work.

I normally go to sleep at around 12-1 but after an 30mins to an hour im still wide awake so I get out of bed and I have no choice but to waste time till im sleepy again.

Weird thing is im only getting 4-5 hours pure sleep. I tend to wake up around 8 or 9 and then from them on im in and out of sleep till around 11-12.

Last night I went to bed at around 12:30 but got out of bed at 1:15 as I couldnt sleep. Ended up going to sleep at 4 but even then my eyes didnt shut until 4:30+. By 9-10 I was awake but in and out until 11.

Now im sitting here yawning my head off and im very tiredl.
Im going to try going back to sleep as I need to study (have an exam on monday).
What can I do to resolve this problem as its effecting my routine and making me feel miserable through the day?

You can try sleeping pills as a short-term solution until you've found the root to your problem...

awwww, that must really suck. I mean u have tried all the options I would have used (read, hot drink etc), so i cant advise, but maybe the cause is stress? Is there something on your mind?

well normally there are things on my mind but yesterday it was clear. Last night while I tried to sleep I was thinking about joining the gym and starting a nice routine today, but look what happened. Im toot tired to do anything at this moment.

As for sleeping pills, I dont want to take any type of pills unless necessary. Just dont like the thought of having them for this type of matter.

ummmmm i know you've said you've tried hot drinks but have you tried Horlicks? Its really helpful (for me, anyway). Get some excercise done in the day that'll tire you out, hopefully then you'll get to sleep at night.

I was the same. I'm down to about 1/2am now, which is better than 6/7am :s

Try and force yourself to get up at a reasonable hour, and then have a busy day! Shopping, sport, a day out to town, a day at work. Maybe even that studying you need to do! Over a few days, you'll be ever so tired. But it does get you back into a more sociable routine...

Also, try and do what I didn't do and avoid TV and the computer too late. And a small evening meal is better than a huge one.

I'd say at this stage though it's what you do in the daytime that'll help more than your evening routine..

I'd avoid pills if you can, but consider them if changing your routine fails.
