Anorexia

Though this may be a common question and topic for discussion i need help. One of my friends (female) has recently begun to get very thin, she eats next to nothing and looks unhappy. She also seem s to disappear after meals, to where i don't know. Finally, she has also begun to get hairy arms, is this is a sure sign of anorexia or just a nervous 17 year old doing A-Levels?? If so, what can i do about it? :frown:

People suffering from Anorexia or Bulimia tend to develop more downy body hair than usual, not necessarily a sure sign though, she may just be eating less due to stress or just through coincidence.

hairy arms is a sign of anorexic? First time I’ve heard this one. It might be a temporarily depression. Worrying about A level results is a bit too early isn’t it?

I'm only worried about her, she never used to be like this, and i don't know what to do about it. I've finished a levels so i don't know. Her parents have also just seperated so perhaps it is just depression...

maybe it's just worry or stress...you should try talking to her or ask someone like a teacher to have a word with her

Two of my best friends have had anorexia...one friend has since recovered but after missing 3 months at school and staying at a clinic and my other friend although she's not been diagnosed with it we're all convinced she is anorexic as she doesn't eat for days on end and shes smaller than a size six..it's really scary

So the best thing is to stop any early signs of it before it gets serious
