pot belly - what to do

I've noticed that over X mas, I got a REALLY bad pot belly. Today I had four friends and one fam members ask me if I was pregrant. :frown: It's really starting to get me down. but it sticks out so far, it does look like I am, I must admit. what can I do about it?

any help would be great, myself I blame the choc, drink and x mas in genral :p: lol

Start eating well tomorrow. Everyone gerts fat over xmas...dont worry about it.

just try getting back to your normal eating routine, maybe slightly healthier for a couple of weeks - thats what Im trying to do anyway. You'll soon be back to the way you were!

I'm trying to do that but chocolate and milk are so much more appealing at the minute. My parents got me enough chocolate to last until next Christmas - my healthy eating is never going to start.

Well then finish all your chocolate and indulge, January is supposed to be a fat month. Start it when you have actually gone off chocolate and no longer enjoy the taste - otherwise why deprive yourself!! Seriously, when the chocolate has all been consumed, then you can start to lose it. :smile:

Were you replying to my post there and not the thread starter? As I don't think the thread starter mentioned having lots of chocolate :confused:
What I tend to do is eat it all in one go, like any food given for christmas (as in, say if I had something chocolate given to me, i wouldn't save it for weeks and weeks), so then it's *out of the way* and I can concetrate on the good foods, which helps. Obviously if you have enough to last you until next Christmas don't eat it all on the trot lol, but don't worry about eating it now because then it will be gone! I know it sounds stupid cos its the same calories and everything, but I do find this beneficial if I'm trying to eat properly :wink:

we all know you need to do more than that!
apparently cardiovascular activity is needed to burn the fat thats there; then you can see the muscle, theres no point in toning it if you cant see it.
so yeah, cardio and a balanced diet.

dont beat yourself up though, im sure a brief survey would reveal that a large number of people are feeling a tad porky after the christmas excesses; and january always seems like such a loooooong month.
much better to wait a while... :biggrin:

Actually, having a pot belly does not mean you're fat. If it's just round (like you're pregnant) and hard and you can't grab your skin, you're just eating too much. I think you can start worrying once you get fat on your hips. Just eat less.

Reduce your energy intake and increase your energy output...

Interesting factlet - most overwieght and obese peeps only take in on average an additional 1%-2% energy compared with a 'normal' peep... Over a decade this can equate to an extra 50 Kgs of weight...

yeah thats an extremely good way of losing weight. its not like its gonna come piling back on once you start eating like a horse again with a slow metabolism now is it?
