My theory on "ugly"

We have many teens on these boards complaining they are ugly and what not. But I think they worry needlessly... remember "ugly girls know their fate, anybody can get laid"-R.E.M.

If uglyness (and I use the word due to its shortness to type) were a major obstacle in relationships and life then surely ugly people would have been bred out of society, it is apparant that so called ugly people can make it with beautiful people (as noted in another thread), and if that fails ugly people make it with other ugly people thus continuing the lineage.

So in the end it all works out people, don't be haters and try and accept other peoples views on beauty.

In terms of ugly looks, ugly facial features are inherited. If your parents have big noses, chances are you will have a big nose also.

That's not to say that if your parents are ugly then you will be ugly also. Beautiful children have ugly parents, and ugly children have beautiful parents.

That's not to say that if your parents are ugly then you will be ugly also. Beautiful children have ugly parents, and ugly children have beautiful parents.

LOUD NOSES! I mean, big noises! I mean - darn it all, big noses are sexy! I should know, I have one :p:

. It's unfair to say that big noses are ugly. And I'm off down the "eye of the beholder" line... :redface:

ugly is an ugly word for those people who arent so genetically/physically fortunate it doesnt matter whats on the outside its the inside that truly matters and its so true most not so pretty people are the nicest, politest and most generous. pretty people suck i say we hang them too bhraj :biggrin:

The better looking you are, the less developed your personality must be, and the greater number of faults your potential partner will overlook. Lesser looking people needed to greately compensate for their 'short-comings'.

It's all very well saying it's what's on the inside that matters, but you need to be given the chance to show what you are like in the first place. Looks get you in the door, personality keeps you in there.

There is a goregous woman who lives next door to me, and she had 2 girls with a good looking bloke. Their kids are quite ugly.

UGLY does NOT = big/small features

They don't have massive noses or anything (cos their mum & dad didn't) but they just have a generally.. kind of ugly look to them (as mean as that sounds!)

There will always be ugly people in society.. even if no ugly people had kids. They will never be bred out.

Exactly, a relationship needs something to get it started, and in most cases, thats physical appearence, as its the only thing to go on when you meet someone, your much more likley to go out with an "Ugly friend" then just get with some "ugly" person in a club. But then the first relationship would probally be much more rewarding, and last longer aswell

My theory on ugly.

I don't have one, except.

Not all ugly people are nice and have great personalities. The same as not all pretty people are horrible. I think I am quite attractive and I am a lovely caring individual who is compassionate towards others and would do anything for most people.

So there. Your theory is bulls**t. And so is the one about good looking people hanging about with uglier people just to make themselves look good.

When I was at school, people who got dates and had (what were considered) good personalities often were selfish, brutish, narcissistic and sadistic. Is that a good personality?!

A good personality is a personality you like.
What tends to happen on forums like this one is the advice is given out by a lot of fairly self-righteous and usually not all-that-attractive people, resulting in the usual constant blurb about personality. There also tends to be an automatic assumption (as there is generally) that good-looking people have bad personalities and uglies have great personalities. Well, I'm sorry to tell you this, but that's as bad a sweeping generalisation as the thread on "why do hot girls have ugly friends?"

Plenty of fatties and uglies have horrible personalities as well.
