Which college is the most "rah"?

Before anyone says anything, I do realise this is entirely subjective, but perception is everything, right? :p:

So, which college is the most "rah"?

Personally, I don't think being "rah" is necessarily a bad thing, so don't take this whole thread the wrong way. I'm just interested to find out what people think since Oxford has such a reputation (from outsiders) about this.

And while I'm here, it would also be interesting to see what everyone thinks being a "rah" is, since there's no absolute definition for it

At least it doesn't seem like you are one of them...

Still, you being in London - you must have met a load of Sloaneys (and possibly been down KR yourself?)

Glad to see Wadham's not there! In fact, I got talking with a Pashmina girl during interviews, but she didn't fit in AT ALL!

Hehe... just checked that sloaneys site and found a whole load of people from my school on there  Luckily it's all the people that I don't like or even remotely associate myself with

It's a less common term for a sloaney.

No! Not Queen's! Beautiful, northern, un-rah Queen's!

A herd of pashmina girls is known as 'the pashmina brigade'.

I actually met one of these at my interviews... who is pictured in the photo gallery there. Weird.

All well and good to start developing your own patois

Sloaneys is increasingly the term used to describe 'rahs'. Probably because 'rah' started to get used by people who weren't and 'Sloaney' is a word that has a history and meaning only a few would really know or understand.

But feel free to head down to Sloane Square and up 'KR" (Kings Road) to discover for yourself.

I might have met someone at the interviews who's on there, I'm just not sure. They all look the same ... :frown:

I happen to know that the one person (a girl) who I met at interview that was like that didn't get in.

Its cruel, but- thank god!
It's definitely ChCh. My friend at Oxford said she saw a student wearing red cords once there. That's a sure fire sign.

Oh no, definite sign.. lucky she got out of there quick!
"Sloaney" is interesting though...

If chav is snobbery, sloaney is reverse snobbery by the bulk of people who make up 'the middle ground'.

As for red cords?
