GHD’s making hair greasy

I was given some GHD’s for Christmas. There great, and make my hair really straight. (if you saw my hair you would understand) I’ve never had a problem with greasy hair before. I tend to wash my every three days as grease build-up was never a issue. But since I’ve been using these GHD’s, I have to wash it every other day, it feels like there’s a greasy coating on my hair, and it looks and feels awful.

Are the GHD’s making hair greasy? Are they known to do this? If anyone else uses them and has this problem, what do you do to help it?
My GHDs tend to dry my hair out, so not sure why yours is greasy. You should try using some dry shampoo between washes to keep it fresh, I use Batiste and its brilliant for getting rid of greasy roots, fringe etc.

yea they do it to mine... dunno why.... have developed a technique of stopping it by totally frying my hair with the hairdryer first then putting my hairdryer on the "cold" setting to fry it some more....

you could try to put on something on your hair before you straighten it. i have some sort of spray that is supposed to protect the hair from the heath as it can be dangerous. do you use conditioner when you wash the hair? if not, buy one that is suitable for your hair type, that could help some.

Makes mine greasier because I put protecting spray on it, which seems to make it smooth which I think in turn makes it greasier..or that may be rubbish...I do naturally have reasonably greasy hair though unfortunately.

i'm not surprised, my friend said the same thing so she stopped using the spray. maybe it depends on the hair? mine never becomes greasy, naturally i have very dry hair perhaps thats why.

I stopped using heat protection spray because it made my hair greasier, and started using serum instead before I straighten it, but I only put a tiny bit on, and on the lengths and ends and not the roots.

yeah, i've noticed my hair being a little greasier than normal (i've just got some GHDs) my hair isn't too bad but i'm am finding that it needs washing more often which is bad cuz i'm not so posed to wash my hair too much as i'm allergic to shampoo, and besides it takes all the dye out...

Maybe by compressing the hair the grease is also being compressed and is therefore more visible? Lol that may be a possibility...Id say just wash your hair like every two days instead.

seems its not only me then lol :p:

i have to wash it every day for it not to look bad down, but i'll do it every other day and just wear it in a headband or twisted up the 2nd day...it's so annoying tho...means i have to dye my hair more often!
maybe cos now it's straight and smooth you tend to run your hands through it more cos it feels nice, which is making it greasy?
that happened to me when first got good straighteners, i couldn't stop fondling my hair.

i think its something to do with the GHD plates. I used GHD''s once as they made my hair greasy. i have straightners which my hairdresser got me and they dont. GHD's have very slippery plates if that makes sense and so if you have fairly oily hair anyway they can make it worse because you are sliding them through your hair over and over again.

Wow, I was thinking I was the only one, I thought my hair was just weird or something. Recently, it feels greasy within a day of washing it, and it is ever since I started using those damn GHD's! The problem is deciding whether to have the inconvenience of GHD = lovely frizz free hair but greasy after 1 day= wash every day or NO GHD = non greasy but frizzed up hair. Difficult one, Grrrrrrrr. I have cut down on the GHD's because I suspected they were the perpetrators and I probably have got used to washing my hair too much but I can't wash my hair less often than every other day because I'd feel it feels so trampy otherwise...

im even worse! i feel trampy if i dont wash it everyday! although i naturally fairly oily hair so im allowed  hehe
the thing is GHD's arent the only good straightners. in fact i think they are pretty average compared to some ive tried. i think its a good idea to browse around and look at other straighteners cause alot of people buy GHDS purely because they are GHDS.

My hair usually isn't too greasy but I find when I straighten it it goes a bit greasy as well. Wiping down the plates of my straighteners when I've finished with them tends to help a little though, as well as the dry shampoo someone else mentioned.
when i use the ghd i have to wash my hair a day earlier than i would have had to, regardless of whether i use the iron oil or not.
