Griping stomach pains

Thought it was just a winter cold, have had headaches and been coughing for a few days, but today I've had the worst stomach pains! Not the usual period pains, it's higher up than that...and also felt really dizzy when walking around today. I'm going to the doc tomorrow before anyone suggests that ( :p: ) but are these just symptons of a really bad winter cold?

Stressed out?...

You say you have a pain higher up... is it at the level of the diaphragm? or stomach?... left or right of the body?

Have you been taking anything for your cold? Many over the counter cough stuff contains glycerol and similar, which can act as a laxative, which may explain your tummy pains. Does your tummy hurt when you touch it?

The faintness is probably because you won't be eating properly and your metabolism goes up a notch when you're ill (stress hormones act like glucagon and help to 'liberate' glucose from your body stores).

You're doing the right thing going to the GP. If you feel worse before then, call NHS Direct.

I agree with fluffy. I have had a really bad winter cold for the last 2, nearly 3 weeks and have felt most of how you are feeling. The dizzyness is probably because you havn't been eating. Hope you feel better soon

Kind of central, just above my belly button. Haven't taken anything for the cold except paracetamol sometimes for headaches. Don't think it can be stress, I've only just gone back to school! Cheers for the advice though  x x

Stress hormones (such as cortisol) are being produced because you are ill, nothing to do with psychological stress...

Are you eating and, more importantly, drinking plenty of fluids?

I think her normal bactgerial flora has been reduced perhaps.
