I'm 21 and doing an Undergrad course. I'm hoping the people in postgrad aren't going to be too mature and not want to go out and stuff...I just don't think I could bare going in with 18 year olds and them thinking that drinking is a novelty...anybody else understand?

Hi,

Im about to go to college to do an access course and then off to uni.

I find it strange to be called a mature student. Im 21 and being called a mature student makes me feel old!!

Just got to think of the experience you have on all the 18 year olds!

I know what you mean! you want that nice balance of sociable people and yet not so "party everyday" people..which is what I fear being in the undergrad halls. :frown:

Hehe, that's a loaded question! this year we had ALOT of bumps. we were the first people to move in here as you may or may not know. it is a brand new complex so we got all the 'housewarming' pains...mould, random alarms, bathroom ventilators not functioning, key cards not working, people getting locked out of their rooms randomly, intercoms not working, appliances shorting out constantly, a postgraduate lounge which we had to BEG to be able to USE (eat, drink, occupy after midnight), NOISE from the construction...oy! and then after all that, this summer they bring in teenagers from across the globe it seems to do some sort of english exchange programme, we weren't even aware they were coming. and they TOOK over...everything! and were so noisy and annoying...sigh, the least they could've done was tell us that they would be using the empty flats to house teenagers and conference people.

BUT apart from all those things, it has been an ok year in here i guess. people constantly complain that we aren't getting our money's worth and to be honest, it's really expensive. it's a nice layout though...umm still a bit impersonal i think though....people tended to stick in their little 'pods' and not do much socialising outside.

umm laundry i think is expensive, people complain frequently that it's not even a thorough wash....let's see what else...

we do have a nice landscaped pond like thing which had ducks and ducklings but they've disappeared recently lol i see now that some people

if you think of anything particular you want to know, you know where to find me! and again, i mean we were the first group to live here so we were the guinea pigs really, that should make things at least a little smoother for you guys =) if that's any consolation!....have you seen pictures? should i post some for you?

I do not pitty you for working with them im one of the team that has to run around like a headless chicken trying to sort their lives out. I think it wasn't to great in PG as they only had a temporary supervisor intill May this year when the permanent one was bought in.

Yeah exactly! I'm going to be working lots too so I'm going to need the odd night where I can actually sleep. I'm sure you're going to be absolutely fine- if not...buddy up with someone in PG and then you can escape to them. What course are you studying?

xx
