What is the difference between the two?

BTEC National Diploma= 18 units covered over 2 years under the old specification
BTEC Extended Diploma= 18 units under covered over 2 yrs under the specification

The old structure Certificate=6 units equiv. to an A-level, Award=12 units equiv. to two A-levels, and Diploma=18 units equiv. three A-levels.
The new structure Certificate=3 units or 30 credits equiv. to an AS, Subsidiary Diploma=6 units or 60 credits equiv. an A-level to, Diploma=12 units or 120 credits equiv. to two A-levels, and Extended Diploma=18 units or 180 credits equiv. to three A-levels.
