Newnham?

So i have been pooled from Clare to Newnham, and i was wondering if anyone out there can tell me anything about it, as i know very little about this particular college, (apart from that it is all female :eek:

).

Do you ever find boys there? Sorry i sound like a right man-eater now lol, but it's just that a lot of my friends are boys, and i'm not sure i would fit in at an all gilrs college :confused:

BTW i will not turn down cam because i have been offered an all girls college, that would be ****ing ridiculus - just want reassuring really!

Yep, lots of boys in there. Porters are a bit weird about it after like 11 but it's ok. I remember wwhen I delivered 'presents' to peope, theporters were less than impressed, but I'll leave them to tell you about that,

if anything there might be MORE boys that hang around, because they're more likely to find 100% women and not just 50%. That's some good odds.

It's a great college - seriously. Lovely gardens too!

Just to get rid of two issues that people seem worried about: bitchiness isn't something I've noticed at all, and very few of us are actually rampaging feminist lesbians - despite what musicbloke might say!

There are blokes in the university as a whole, so you'd be socialising with them in any univeristy-based thing you chose to do. There are plenty aound, and there will be no problem whatsoever meeting those with the Y-chromosome. Promise.

If you look down the list of new threads there's one started by Bumblebee3 about Newnham (it'll be on the first or second page). Probably the best place to ask questions/talk to Newnhamites!

hey, is there caterig for vegans at newnham? i've heard that they have loads of veggies/vegans, and as this is close to my heart(!) it would be great if i got a college that found vegan catering fairly easy to provide for?

There's always at least one cooked veggie option every day, and a salad bar. Often there are soups (I've only ever seen them without meat), and baked potatoes too. I very often eat the veggie option and - so long as they don't do their weird baked-aubergine thing - it's generally pretty good!

We had a group of freshers from Caius over the other day for lunch, and they were going on about how great our food was...Good morale boost for us, as I think everyone always complains about their own catering! :wink:

HOWEVER - when you say "vegan" it does depend just how vegan you mean. Because the caterers have a tendency to put cheese in the veggie things. And I guess if they do a rice dish, they might put eggs in with the rice...And they could easily use dairy produce in the sauces.
So Newnham is good for veggies, but I can't be so confident about vegans...

On the other hand, we DO have fantastic student kitchens, and plenty of people cater for themselves. :smile:
