Lafrowda

Hi, In 2006 I'm thinking of going to Exeter. Being an international student (I live in Switzerland) and paying a hell lot of money, I'm thinking of going for the cheapest accomodation Lafrowda. Having read a few stuff on it, it doesn't seem to have a great reputation. Can Exeter students or people who know Exeter pretty well give me advice on this please? Thanks.

heya, I spent loads of weekends staying with my bf in his laf' standard room and it wasnt that bad! once you have posters etc up it's fine. I think it depends on WHO you live with not where, as long as the people on your floor are nice enough then you can have a great time, but thats luck of the draw!
Some of the lafrowda blocks have mank kitchens, but you hanvt got to live there that long, and like i said decorate to your hearts content and im sure you wont find it that bad! I personally think its a lot better than paying loads of money for an ensuite and heated towel rail!

heya, as far as i know it is mainly 1st year undergrads and international students. But there are different standards of laf'. Talking to my bf he said it is worth paying a little extra and going for lafrowda enhanced rather than standard! But I liked standard just fine!

I've heard Lafrowda Enhanced is actually pretty nice, and it seems really down to earth and social. I think quite a lot of international students live there so you are likely to live with a huge mix of people.

It's not the best, but there are always a lot of parties there and its close to both the main academic buildings and the city centre.

as far as accomodation goings, its not that nice, but i always say this. it doesn't matter what the place is like, its the people you're living with and what you make of things. i know plenty of people in laffy and they're perfectly happy. i'd apply for the enhanced rooms though, they have prettier kitchens. locationwise, its a 15 minute walk into town and about a 5-7 minute walk to the guild and shops.... 10 to the peter chalk centre. everythings really near xx

Oooh, they've got as far as enhancing block E now - nice :smile:

When I was there only the latter half of the alphabet seemed to be enhanced blocks. I was in an enhanced block too - Q. You'll have a great time :smile:

True it was a little weird. But I only watched it cause someone said Q block was in it! Rooms looked nothing like what they are, but hey Q Block is famous!

Series 1 was amazing but series 2 was a let down.

I decided not to go for laffy, feel like I may have made a mistake doing that. Ah well im sure St Davids is just as fun, and if not then i'll just crash laffy's parties =) haha.

Block E is lovely, lush views over the green and river behind (but plenty of trees around you so watch out for squirrels intruding!!!)
And opposite my old home D block too :frown:
