I would say practice is the best thing you could do...make sure you know the syllabus of the exam, and get used to not being intimidated by the questions....It doesn't matter for me 'cause I completely choked on BMO1 :p: What score did you get?

I should be getting my BMO1 results this Monday, but I'm not hopeful.
Loved it in the school newsletter, after I told all the maths teachers what a shocking performance I put in, they wrote 'we are eagerly awaiting his result' , just plain cheeky that!

I got 25, made up of 9-10-4-2-0-0.

Edit: Might as well add that I'm in the lower 6th, studying further maths - ie. I can do all the Maths needed for C1,C2 and M1. Anything harder will need to come through logical deduction (eugh) or by failing the question (more eugh).

bumpity bump...

it won't be stuff you would learn in further maths, it is different topics...... i havent got my mark yet im expecting in the region of 13....
Reply 7
Yeah, it's more likely to be stuff we don't usually learn at school, like number theory and advanced geometry. Good luck on that, I really hope I got through too.

I got 7  , hey I am happy. Well done "the_brainaic" on your 25 thats pretty impressive.
Reply 9
dammit... my school hasnt got the results back yet.

Don't worry if you get a crap score in BMO2, I got a grand total of 4 out of 40 last year, after 25/50 in BMO1 and now I'm at Trinity college, Cambridge, BMO is just a bit of fun, unless you're a complete and utter genius, (the sort of people who do really well in IMO)

I got 19 in BMO1 last year, and got 2/40 in BMO2
This year I got 31 in BMO1 and am invited again, so am probably looking at 3 .

Ben

No advice attached to this post despite the fact I've done it before because you probably want to get more than 2.

31 is pretty damn impressive! I guess we can compare scores in BMO2 after it's done... till then I've got to get someone to teach me how to do proper proofs!
Reply 13
yeah from what ive seen of bmo2 thats vital....
Reply 14
Ben - you came 41st out of the whole country, that's pretty impressive.. (and i don't stalk you, I have a table of highest 60 scorers)
Reply 15
any chance you can tell me what the 60th mark was? just so I can estimate where I came?
Reply 16
Just curious, how many people (approx) qualify for BMO1 and how many for BMO2?
Reply 17
1000 and 100
Reply 18
60th score was 27, highest score was 58.
Reply 19
looks like I was somewhere around 65th then. Highest score 58... How is that possible?! These people must be insane!
Edit: How did you manage to get that table, by the way?
