spotting, Emergency contraceptive help, tender breast, pregnancy???

okay last month i took the emergency contraceptive pill and about a week after that i had really sore breasts.

This month (last week) again i had to take the Emergency contraceptive pill again, and again had tender breasts but this time i've like kinda come on my period like 2weeks early  (although im not sure its definately my period as it may be 'spotting'; i was wondering whether this is a normal side effect of taking the EC pill?

the spotting is not as the name suggests, spots of blood; rather like a period (but not so bad)

i was wondering whether there could be a chance that this is suggesting i may well be pregnant?
The only way of telling for sure is to wait a couple of weeks and take a pregnancy test. Sore breasts and spotting are signs of pregnancy, but they're also more generally signs of hormone imbalance. Emergency contraception isn't the best thing for your system, especially if you take it more than once within a short period of time. I'd imagine your hormones are going haywire right now. Try not to panic, and just wait until you know for sure. I don't think your symptoms suggest particularly that you are pregnant, but you can't tell until you take a test. Emergency contraception prevents something like 7 out of 8 pregnancies if taken within 24 hours, but the longer you leave it, the less effective it will be. How soon did you take it each time after having unprotected sex?

I also think you need to consider why you're in this position in the first place. If you've had to take EC twice within a month, your current contraception arrangements clearly aren't working, and I suggest you see your doctor or visit family planning to discuss a more suitable alternative.

Good luck.
Sounds like the pill working... but I'm not too sure... could try asking NHS Direct or a visit to a medical professional.

Don't think it is a sign you are pregnant though...

edit: as expected, susiemakemeblue, being a lady, is talking much more sense with more certainty than me

i took them like literally a few hours after

i'am also considering a regular contraceptive method though also at the moment; i just really wouldn't recommend fetherlite condoms, really flimsey and slippery.

hmm it does sound like it could be an effect from the pill but i was thinking a week after i took them seems too long for the side effects to kick in??

thank you BOTH for your help!

I don't know enough about it to be sure, but the hormones in those things can affect any woman in different ways. Again, don't panic too much, but I suggest you start using a regular method of hormonal contraception. If you don't fancy the pill, which is 99.9% effective, try the shot (99.7% effective) or the implant, which I believe is meant to be damn near 100%. Talk about peace of mind. There's a very good thread on it all somewhere. It's probably a sticky.

Hormone changes can take a while to manifest and return to normal.

She deserves more credit than me though
