Milk is supposed to help, I think drinking warm milk about ten minutes before going to sleep was the exact advice my doctor gave  .

i find sleep cures my insomnia every time...

Take a bath before you go to bed.

I find that whenever I can't sleep, if I go downstairs and eat something, I can get to sleep as soon as I've gone back to bed.

Personally I find any sort of distraction good, if I leave my tv on or radio on and get into bed I nearly always fall asleep in a minute or two. If however, I just get into bed it can take hours (probably because I think too much about everything).

Reply 6

exercise during teh day (so youre knackered when you go to bed)

Reply 7

I've tried the bath, exercising, and watching tv or listening to music, and none of them work. Haven't tried milk, so thats worth a try, but i was thinking something more like a herbal remedy or treatment or something, if there are any that help sleep

Firstly, if you have trouble sleepin it's usually down to worry or stress, so see if you can combat anything thats worrying you or playing on your mind!

Secondy, lavender oil can be very helpful to aid sleep!

I always get hot/warm milk with honey, it helps or warm camomille (sorry dont know how to spell it) tea with honey and after this tea I start to read in bed, which makes me soo sleepy  hope it helps

I use nytol herbal sleep aid, which are tablets made totally out of natural ingredients, I also go to bed with my lemongrass microwavable hottie and listen to my relaxtion tape =D.

But why do you build me up?

Reply 12

I've tried bath (makes me more awake somehow), camomile, hot chocolate, milk, leaving tv/music on, knackering myself out, reading, bananas (apparently), and just about anything else you can think of.

Only thing that sorted it out for me was sleeping tablets but they only had a decent effect the first night and haven't worked since then. Its crap. Why do they put all the decent tv on after 10 or 11?

Yeah, huge amounts of stress about lots of things at the moment, which is probably whats causing it.

Yeah, go for a jog or the like before you sleep. Or if you've been mentally understimulated during the day you could give this a go:

It'll soon have your brain in pieces.
