How long did it take after interview to hear the outcome for everyone?

I think my rejection took about 3-4 weeks, but my interview was held just before christmas so there's the xmas break to take into account. some people get notified earlier though. note if you are UK based, an offer comes via email but a rejection comes in a letter. I think. cmiiw.

Ah ok, sorry about the rejection. Have you applied for any other programmes?

yep I have applied to other uni's but they're taking way longer to give an outcome... I wonder if that's a good or a bad sign :P good luck to you though!

Same here, still waiting on imperial MSc Applied Maths! Good luck to you too

I just had a Skype interview with prof. Jon Chapman and Dr. Kathryn Gillow. They were both very nice to me. They asked me some basic Linear Algebra questions - what does it mean when matrix is non-singular, figure out if matrix A = [1 2 0; 4 4 1; 8 4 3] is singular and find its column and null space. Then, they asked about Taylor series - the general formula and the approximation of e^(-x^2) by Taylor in x = 0. I think I totally screwed it up, since I made a mistake in derivation of this function...

Yep, something like if a matrix has 0 determinant, what does it mean. What kind of properties can we infer from the matrix and etc.Oh, I remember now, there were Gaussian Elimination and many other basic stuff, read the prerequisite if you want more information. As for the PDE bit, try to read something on heat equation, separation of variables and etc.

Yep I did and the course is extremely demanding though very rewarding! I must say, I learnt so much in two terms. Don't worry about the course now, prepare and try to do well for your interview.

Oh, just saw some of your post and realised you are from York! Two of my coursemates are from York as well!

Very useful thanks

Doesn't look too bad - of course I'd have to brush up for 2-3 weeks if I get called to interview.

How did it go?

Currently at Manchester Math/Comp Sci looking at this course, I'll try to get my application off in September. The Msc Mathematical Finance coursework you are required to finish looks a bit more challenging so may focus on this.

Thank you all !

Hi,

Anyone apply to this course for 2016 entry? I met the Nov. deadline and am still waiting for a reply. Was wondering if anyone else has heard anything.

Thanks

I've still not heard anything either :/

Well, that's slightly reassuring. Looking at the graduate admissions website, it says interviews are normally within a month of the application deadline you meet so i'm not too confident that i won't be rejected. But you never know so good luck!

Has anybody received a decision yet?

About interviews? If you've had an interview I don't think they send out their decisions until late Jan/early Feb.

Have u had an interview already?

I had my interview last week. Did anyone else feel like the questions this year were quite hard? Might just have been I was ill prepared, but it felt like a car crash to me.

I had mine last week as well. They are pretty hard. Definitely not basic heat equation etc... Have u heard from them?

What were the questions like? Were they different to what has been mentioned before?

Nope, haven't heard anything. I think it'll be a few weeks before getting a final outcome.

Did either of you guys specify a college preference. I'm very tempted to apply but the interview terrifies me.
