i'm worried this thread's just gonna die right here!

And rightly so. With any luck a moderator will be kind enough to put it out of its misery before too long.

way hay! finally someone who is Hafiz-e-Qur'an! Maashallah.
lol you don't have to "do" anything to be in this society. it's more of a list really as to who is hafiz. just like most other "societies"!

Not much point in having a mind if you don't.

so don't you feel sometimes as though it's better to keep opinions to yourself?

that's a bit harsh! you really just "don't care"? so you just go around speaking your mind to people?!
Perhaps if you called it a Memory Society you would get more takers. You could share with others what methods you use to help you memorise things. All students could do with memory tips. What about diet? Apparently lack of certain types of vitamins can cause memory problems? - does that mean certain types of vitamins can increase memory? I remember reading something about Ginseng. What I wouldn’t do to be able to memorise my whole chemistry book, and those flipping identities compound/double angle formulae in maths gosh they are boring.

I watched this documentary where this chap decided to play around with fruit fly DNA and gave a bunch of them photographic memory.

I have nothing but great admiration for people who have great memories, but if all you are going to do is list the name of hafiz then what purpose does that serve other than just to show off? I'm sure you could rattle off a passage as to what happens to people that show off. You have to offer something extra. How do you go about memorising so much stuff and can it be applied to other things, shopping lists? School work etc.

You've memorized the entire Qur'an? Every word? Is that actually possible?

I know most of the non-Muslims here can’t stand Dr Zakil Naik - but he has an amazing memory. He has memorised the Quran, Adeeth, Bible (not sure which), and various hindu scripture. He’s like those magicians that memorises several packs of cards amazing to watch. What's most impressive is that he can give you the no. of the chapter and verse. Or rattle off the no.s of the chapters and verses that contain a particular subject matter.

i use to know abit of it by heart, about 10% of it. But then i done abit more research into it, changed my mind and became an atheist :P

well...yes! i know, i myself can't believe i had the power and strength to do it. i mean, it's not like i have an AMAZING memory or something. i'm just an average muslim with an average memory i'd say. it's amazing because it's about 850 pages long in ARABIC (language i don't understand or speak!) and if someone gave me a novel that was about 200 pages in ENGLISH, i wouldn't be able to memorise it in a million years!

"And We (Allah) have made the Holy Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will receive admonition."(The Quran, 54:17)

How do you become a hafiz? is there an examination? and what if you miss a word here and there.. or if you ger it right one day, and slightly wrong the next...and are you de-hafizzed if you don't remember it anymore?

Logically, in old age, people would hafizzle out, as memory wanes.
