And if they have too many they can bribe people into changing course or defering - even if they offer money for that they can still save by giving away £2k rather than the £11k fine.

I've seen people post it on TSR before, yes. They don't call it a bribe, but use other names such as "bursary"

Ah, I see. I was wondering how they'd get away with a blatant outright bribe... I guess that gives them a bit more subtlety!

I wouldn't email them. I'd ring them. I mean, it might come to nothing, so don't get your hopes up, but then, if you don't try, you'll always be wondering "what if".


of course you can wander 'what if' no matter what happens though.
