i'd say high as it was in a real life setting (in a prison if i'm correct)

just looked at my AS notes.
Ecological Validity - because the p's(participants) were playing their roles, their behaviour was not being influenced by the same factors that influence behaviour in real life
Population validity - because the study was only US men (men seem to be less conformist) we should be wary about generalsing the findings to other populations.
no, Zimbardo's study has low ecological validity. it wasn't in a real-life setting as the environment was manipulated, therefore a lab experiment.

hope that helps

Yeah, i agree with letsgobilliejoe - they weren't real prisoners or guards, podge's points also illustrate the low ecological validity.
thank you very much!
as it is a lab experiment (not in a real prison - actually some dingy basement set up to look like a prison); not the person's 'real' role (just assigned to them by the experimentor); the IV's are manipulated to get a predicted DV. therefore natural behavour is not observed.

if, at any time, you conclude that an IV has been manipulated, and the research is an experiment, you can automatically say that ecological validity is low. this is because the outcome cannot be generalised to a real life situation.

Proves how rubbish my "i'm a student teacher who doens't know how to teach" was!

In my notes...written by her...its say high....then contradicts herself saying what i wrote in my previous post! ARRRH!

Mostly remember how awful her pants were which made her bum look huge and had an obsession with the word 'guys' - 'guys come on i know it's friday'...'guys register time'....'guys, does my bum look big in this....YES'

In Conclusion after reading my previous post....i'd also say yes....it does have low ecological validity!

she said 'register time'??!!
methinks somebody had primary school Teacher Training!!

we had an awful teacher turnover rate at our college last year and the year before. only two of the five psychology teachers are left to divide the work of 100 students between them.

Only makes it worse when they get 'Big Brenda' to cover lessons. especially considering that she had edexcel experience from 10 years ago, and we're doin AQA!

god....i feel your pain

Well the student teacher was hopeless...instead of going through the textbook page then the next page etc..she was flitting all over the place. we did Zimbardo's study first and we knew nothing about Conformity...no wonder i got it wrong... amazing that i was 4 marks off an A on that paper...i blame her!
DO not tell me zimbardo is conformity just written all about in it my resit i could have sworn it was obedience!

If you are referring to my post above yours...i meant we learnt Zimbardo's study before we even started the 'Social Psycholgy' 'Social Influence module' thing. AKA well today we are moving onto the Social Influence module...Here's Zimbardo!

Any answers to whether Zimbardo was to do with Conformity or Obedience?!

Zimbardo was conformity, Milgram was Obedience!

EDIT: Or actually, i don't know lol i supposed there was some obedience involved in maintaining the roles etc, but i think it was more to do with conformity.
