Well when I say sports I'm talking about Parkour or Freerunning and weight training and I'm just thinking I don't really know what precautions to take. I'm 15 so could there be any damage done to my body by doing weights (dumbells not barbells) because I'm worried about straining my body. Also Parkour is quite a risky sport depending on what you do and I would just like some advice. Thanks in advanced Patrick
if you're only 15 it is not recommended doing things like weights as they can strain your body. and sorry for my ignorance but i don't know what Parkour is, never heard of it. if it's similar to weights or something then I would give it a miss. why could you not try doing some other sports that provide just as good a workout but with less risks? if you're bothered about building up muscle then you should speak to a professional who will be able to advise you what to do (or maybe someone else on here).
Bob Parkour is like jumping up walls and various tricks it's a kinda spiritual thing I fell a really good way of expressing yourself I feel I go to the gym so I'll tlak to someone there about the weights thanks. Btw for information on parkour have a look at this website www.urbanfreeflow.co.uk
Weight lifting at your age will stunt your growth and impede proper bone development. You'd want to wait til you're 17.
If you insist on doing weights do not do squats, or anything that requires you to stand up. Infact I'd recommend you only do light dumbell curls etc, and pushups pull ups and whatnot.
I think doing weights at a gym isnt a hard thing for a 15 year old lad. Just dont strain yourself. Stick to going up weight/reps gradually that way your body will have time to adjust. I know plenty of young guys who start in the gym at 12 and 13, no massive harm done.. mind you most of them are tanks now
