My ears are allergic to rubber. Just my ears.

'k here's the problem. I like to listen to music on in-ear headphones, but my ears would appear to be allergic to the little rubbery bits on them. Seriously! I have no allergy to it otherwise, but after using earphones for a while all the skin starts to peel off inside my ears and they get sort of swollen, and leak this weird watery stuff. So basically this leaves me with the choice of either removing the rubbery bit, which causes the headphones to fall appart after a few months, or use the little covers that come with them which muffles the sound.

This is a serious dilemma! Help! And also, is it even possible for just my ears to be allergic to something?

Are you listening to loud music for a long period of time?

And my headphones have no rubber in them...see a doctor if youre worried.
Might be your ears sweating. Seriously, it happens.

Yes, but I don't see how that makes a difference... like I said it doesn't happen if I remove the rubber or use the covers.

my earphones dont have rubber on them i dont think, are you using those proper-proper in-ear one with the sticky-in bit, use normal ones, or u could use those over the ear ones, their jsut bits of plastic.

Use over the ear ones, they are actually better for you, and more comfy.

my earphones, the rubber has fallen off them or something :s-smilie:, you could try ripping the rubber offyour earphones :P. Only problem though, you may get cuts etc in your ears...

Like I said sometimes I do that, but after a while the glue holding the things together disintegrates and they just fall apart.

i just use the clip over the ear ones.. the covered in foam aswell... i wear them due to the ones that go in your ear, just fall out of my ears.. or they hurt my ear *not the music.. but i have to push them right in and they stretch the ear hole*

i'm sure you can get plastic earphones... or just use the little cushion things that come with them.
