The Student Room Group

Sheep (not animals)

Basically, the vast majority of people at my college just follow the crowd all the time

In particular, there's this one guy who I’ve known since I was pretty young, and he irritates me to such a degree I have to walk off somewhere else. He’s one of these people that just follow what everybody else does and no opinion of his own, just agrees with everybody else to fit in and look cool. A few of us see through it, and see that he looks a dick when he clearly is trying to look cool, but we’re in a minority.

Am I the only one who gets really hacked off by this behaviour? I *hate* it when people cannot make their own decisions.

I know a few people like that. And when you do ask them what they think about something, they get all flustered and twitchy. It's amusing.

Just don't hang around with such incompetents then, it's nothing to get stressy about. There's always going to be people that piss you off.

Yes i know exactly what you mean, they irritate you with every move they make. I just wish they could learn to be themselves!

I sort of know what you mean, being able to see it when no one else can. A mate of mine from shool used to be totally into rock, metal etc.

He didn't go to Uni, he's an Engineer now, and obviously we sort of went our seperate ways... but I still see him when I'm back home. His new mates are proper boy-racer types, they listen to dance music and R&B and all that nonsense, and so does he now, claiming that it's the best music ever... but if I'm at a party at his place and all that's played is that... stuff... I can see quite clearly on his face that he'd much rather be listening to rock & metal. I also discovered a number of contraband CDs in his room like Led Zep, Guns & Roses, and even a Billy Joel number :p:.

It does annoy me a bit that he feels like he has to put on an act and pretend to like things he doesn't to 'fit in' with his new mates, but to be honest it's his business.

I wouldn't if it wasn't for the fact that he insists on hanging around with all my mates now

I'm glad there's others that see my point of view though... comforting! How people don't see it is utterly beyond me.

Another annoying thing is he's one of those people whose parents buy him EVERYTHING and it has to be better than everyone else's.
