Bristol Business school v Nottingham business school?

Hi! I am a Swedish student and I have applied for Business studies and international business studies at Bristol Business school(UWE) and Nottingham business school(Nottingham Trent).

Now both schools look good and the courses are very similar and they're all very interesting. The problem is I have no idea which school to choose.
I have never been to England and therefore I don't know which university is the better one of the two or which city is the nicest to live in.

So if you would choose between the two business schools, which would YOU choose?

Thanx in advance

bristol is better in terms of overall reputation, and i think its better for business too, in my opinion.

also, bristol seems to be a nicer city, a lot of crime in nottingham.

I go to NBS and yes its probably better than Bristol as its a specialised school seperate from the uni and gives you alot of options to take business/economics modules which i dont think was available anywhere else.

This is Trent vs UWE though. xx

Bristol is a great place to live (I spent my 4 student years there!). Never been to Nottingham so can't comment. Don't confuse 'Bristol' and UWE or Notts and NT. One set have a very high reputation, the other do not.

It's all well and good arguing the merits of the two institutions, but consider why you want that course and at those institutions. Business studies is, imho, a poor mans econ+management degree and neither UWE nor NT would are first choice institutions for 'academic' subjects. Answer? Neither, unless there was no other option. Then i'd pick UWE as I like Bristol!

Both business schools are in the top 20 for undergraduate studies according to Financial times rankings.

And just because it seems like UWE and NT has a bad reputation(which I had no idea of when I applied:frown: ) it doesn't mean that the business schools are bad. They are independant faculties!

And also I have already sent in my applications. I am from Sweden and I didn't know what sccols are good and bad in England except oxford and cambridge etc.

And also I don't have very high grades. I got 28 points on my IB diploma so I can't get in to the best schools.

I do regret however that I only applies to 2 schools when I could have applied to 6 schools:frown:

Is it possible to apply to more universities if I pay another 15 pounds?
Trent no question.

Thanx for the replies guys

Gawd do I wish I had found this forum before I chose courses and sended away my application

Do you think it is possible to change choices?

The course I really want to study after searching on the web is the Management course at Nottingham UNIVERSITY business school.
The problem is that they require 32 IB points and I have 28.

Do you think it is possible that I have a small chance to get accepted there by ucas extra/clearing or something or am I doomed for that course?

I will send an e-mail with a copy of my ucas application to nottinghams admission office and ask if they might consider me adn if it's worth applying there by extra/clearing.

I would really appreciate if you guys could name a few decent universities in the UK that are not "top notch" but quite good and well respected and has a good reputation(something that neither trent or UWE appearantly has according to everyone on this forum:frown: ). Cause then I know which universities that will be interesting when the extra/clearing period begins.

I might even consider studying something besides business as long as I can get a good degree in something at a decent university.

I really want to study in England. It's been a dream and goal of mine for many years.

Thanx in advance,
David

You might as well try anything.

You'll be surprised.
