7th Driving Test!

I really need some advice!!!

On thursday I have got my 7th driving test and I really need to pass this time because I have spent about £5,000 on learning to drive and it is becoming slightly ridiculous!!!

On my previous 6 tests I have failed because of stupid things that I would never ever normally do but for some reason do them. My major downfall ids nerves.

Loads of people have said to me "just treat it like a normal lesson" but that it impossible!!!!! It's completely different!

I would really appreciate any advice from anyone - on my last test he told me that everything I did was perfect apart from I did 40 in a 60 for about 10 seconds and therefore he failed me for that!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I knew that I'd be really nervous if I thought about it too much so I booked it and didn't tell anyone except my driving instructor. It worked- if I had told everyone I'd have been really worked up about it and it was v funny trying to convince everyone that I wasn't lying (It was the 1st time my mother realised that I could be deceitful!)

I tried not telling anyone last time but I still managed to mess it up!!!

I am getting to the point now where I am seriously considering bribing the examiner!!!!

But seriously, does anyone know of any good ways to combat nerves? All the herbal remedies I've seen induce sleep which I'm sure isn't good!!!

If I was you I'd perhaps try to forget that it's the 7th attempt- straight away you're gona feel a bit negative. Also, maybe if you try and play down the importance of it to yourself. If I'm really nervous about something I just tell myself I can always do it again (like resit an exam). In a way just try to convince yourself it's not such a big deal. If u can do that the nerves should ease a bit. You're only nervous because you've placed so much importance on it.

You're obviously not good enough to be on the roads yet then.. at the end of the day 6 other examiners do not think you should pass. Bribing them just endangers everyone elses lives, and can also get you a ban from driving. Why don't you just have 6 months off, then get back to it.

How about taking your driving instructor along with you? Might feel more relaxed? Also, if you do unfortunately fail, he/she may be able to pick up exactly where you're going wrong.

Good luck

Firstly, i don't see the problem with going at 40 in a 60. 60 is a speed limit, not a target.
But anyway, what do you have to be nervous about?
What is the main thing that is causing your nerves?

Better to do it the other way around (or only have one or two lessons before going to an instructor). It's likely you dad does not drive in the way that you need to to pass the driving test and it's all too easy to pick up bad habits. The best way to do it is to learn the basics from an instructor and when you're coming up to taking the test get a lot of extra driving experience/practice with your dad (practicing the maneuvers and the general driving around), that way you're unlikely to pick up bad habits (not necessarily "bad" but things that make it harder to pass your test).

you don't know my father. I can understand where you are coming from, but my dad has been driving for over 30 yrs and he has never gotten a point of his lience. He's going to take me to a local beach to learn one day.

its not necessarily about having points. The exampiners nit pick on everything. Also after passing tests most drivers slip into bad habits... not necessarily bad enough habits to break the law but bad enough habits to fail you your test.
wow 7th time lucky eh?

Are you sure your test is still on? I heard something on the news yesterday about a strike. I imagine your instructor would let you know if it was cancelled though.

I failed my test yesterday - I bumped into the pavement twice when performing a parallel parc! And then coz I was gutted and disturbed I began to take off without signal when a car was coming so the tester had to tell me to stop! I was so devestated coz I was going so well and had done a reversing round a bend that was jus my best ever! GUTTED!
I'm gonna re-take it in a couple of weeks though. My friend has failed hers twice now and all coz of stupid petty mistakes. Just keep trying and tell yourself, this time I'm going to do it!

Either give up, get a bicycle or perhaps try a councilor or hypnotherapist. The last is serious as you may have some in-built fear/tense of failure

I failed on my first test and it gutted me, but and the end of the day it can be argued that if you fail a test/tests then it will make you a better driver, because those who pass first time are more likely to be cocky at the wheel, thinking they are good. My best mate took 4 attempts and turned out a much better driver than me. I wrote off my first car because I was playing with the volume on my stereo, and I hit a parked car on the other side of the road!

My Dad taught me an hour a week for 3 months, and then I had 11 lessons with an instructor and passed with 1 minor.
