What type of contraceptive?

ok im considering getting onto some form of regular contraceptive soon, but am sooooo unsure on which one is better for me.

I dont fancy having to take it everyday, i still want my periods (strange, i know but it just seems kinda weird not having periods) i want one with less / not as harmful side effects but still pretty effective. I hope this list isn't too exhaustive, what do you suggest for a beginner like myself

If you go and see your doctor he/she will go through all the options and you can decide together what's best for you.
Abstain!
Or er, condoms are hassle free, less messy for you girlies; and tbh, there's no real difference to the guys feeling. (dont tell them i told you so!)

Dont get me wrong..the idea of 'bareback' in itself is arousing, but sex is in the mind, not the loins. Well.. that's my philosophy

How about the injection then? I've got an appt. to see my doctor next week and I'm wodering whether to mention it, is there anything particularly bad or good about it?

Don't bother with the injection - the side effects are horrific!

Obviously some people are absolutely fine and if you are then you're very very lucky, but if you do get side effects you're stuck with them for over 12weeks until the injections worn off..

The ones they don't really tell you about properly when you go to the doctors include:
Evil mood swings, Depression, Acne, Weight gain, It can generally lower your immune system and its generally not recommended for people under 19 because it can affect your bones and this could lead to osteoporosis in later life.. also it can really mess up your periods: you could be on for well over a month or you could be on for 3 days every single week or they might completely disappear and then you get worried your pregnant.

Stick with the pill and or condoms..much less hassle in my opinon!
If you aren't keen on taking pills everyday and still want periods which something like the injection might stop, I'd suggest NuvaRing. Here's a bit of info I googled
"The contraceptive ring releases hormones based on body temperature changes. These hormones are absorbed by the vaginal walls, which allow them to enter the bloodstream. In this way, the ring steadily releases a low dose of hormones, causing fewer, hormone-related adverse effects for users less than what's experienced from using the birth control pill or contraceptive patch."

Go to the doctor and raise that option and ask them to tell you more about it. If you don't like the sound of inserting something in your vagina perhaps the contraceptive patch might also be an option.
pah! the patch is what you want
change it ONCE A WEEK
still get periods
no nasty injections
really easy to use - just stick it on yourself like a plaster
Lower dose of hormones.

check out the info on lessthanthree's sticky too

IF YOU ARE ON THE PILL, IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU DON'T GET PERIODS!!!
you still get 'em, they are still annoying and always come around the time you are hornery and want teh sex, and taking the pill is probably better, because you know exactly when they are going to turn up.

omg..
