i hate to say this, but as a nursing student you dont get freshers week...whilst all the other students were enjoying the fun, we were in everyday having all these talks and then going on an orientation day at the hospitals we would be working in...although if you improvise you can get the time to have a glimpse of everything you'll be missing out on for the next three years!

ok it's not quite that bad...but freshers week just passes by without a trace i dont know anyone from my course who did anything..purely cos of the earlier start date...and the fact that we'd started the course proper by then.

seriousley though, too bad you don't have it. it is during that time that i met most of my friends, and where you get to know each other. but maybe you can arrange some party or something yourself?

I felt a bit lost and overwhelmed during Freshers weeks

If this happens to you, don't panic - it got better

Surely you can go out at night?

Everyone drinks a lot and is loud and stressed in trying to get to know people. I hated Fresher's week, it's utterly overwhelming. They try to make it fun, and no doubt for some people it is, but it just felt loud and pressurised.

In one way i am glad that i might miss it, as i don't drink and would probubly hate having to go out etc, etc. But on the other hand i really want to make s many friends as possible and if freshers is a good chance to do that then it will be a shame if i don't get to go, because i am moving to london to go to uni all the way from manchester, and i am so scared i am going to be lonely, and want to make sure that i am not and get a good network of friends because iwon't be able to see mine from round heer and i won't be able to see my family, and need someone for support.

They should definately let the nursing stuedents in on freshers week though, or make a special one for them. sems a bit of a shame!

Sounds you have noise allergy, like I do. confusion atttacks  !
I think medical students should turn up early and make their own fresher thingy for a couple of days
i wouldnt worry too much about fresshers week...it's overrated

just hope that you end up with other nursing students if your in halls, at our uni we're put together as standard, student nurses have the best parties/nights out...think 'no angels'...so you'll still get the chance to socialise and meet loads of new friends.

A noise allergy? Is that real or just something you made up? Either way, noise just irritates me. Hence it pisses me off when the girls on my corridor scream at each other...for no reason!!!! Seriously, if they as much as see each other, they scream.

I think i am going to have to make a new post, to try to encourage as many health and medical students to get there early and start their own freshers party, so we can mingle and have a good time and not miss out on all the fun! Thanks, that's a brilliant idea!

it irritates me too, particularly repetitive noises. also when I'm in a situation where there's lot's of noise coming from different sources, I often feel overwhelmed and unable to think properly. I'll have a lot to get used to if I live in holes of residence :frown:
:ditto:

Oh well, I had a Fresher's Three Days! Arrived on the Saturday, said "Hi!" to people, had a bit of a party in our hall on Sunday night and got my first essay first thing on Monday morning!

Boo shame. I didn't even get time to get drunk...

free stuff? what is it? I'd like some
It depends on the university's fresher's fayre how much free stuff you get, universities probably differ in how much they make of freshers week. Here at Swansea I've always found freshers week brilliant. Apart from all the special events and atmosphere etc., you get tons of free stuff! All different sorts of things - t-shirts, sweets, sandwiches, prawn crackers, mugs, shots, alcopops, squeezy balls, pens, lighters, bottle openers, notepads, mousemats, wall calendars, drink offer tokens...
