Do you mean 'long term' as in they had a long term relationship, or 'long term' as in they have been split up for ages?

Personally if one of my mates wanted to go out with my ex I wouldn't care. If it is a long time since they split up there will be nothing left between them. However it could be awkard if they have split up recently.

If it was a close mate or a good mate I'd say dont even go there, theres plenty of other people out in the world without resorting to stirring your friends soup.

All depends on how often you speak to this mate isnt it.

If you text or ring this mate a lot, I wouldnt bother as it'll get akward.

but if not sod it.
