Bonjela or TCP....argh I know how much they hurt. I had one on my bottom lip but right down near my jaw (if that makes sense) and I had trouble talking too. My mum can't eat sour sweets because they bring her out in mouth ulcers. Hope it disappears soon! x x

Thank you people.
I'm now off to bed, I'll once again try TCP on it, I'm making the whole house stink of the stuff :P

Bonjela is better for getting rid of the pain
Bonjela. I agree with everyone else. I get them from time to time and it really helps soothe the pain whilst it heals naturally.

i get them a lot, bonjela doesn't really always work. try something called anbesol, you can get it in boots and it actually does get rid of the pain completely. it properly bumbs. otherwise there is a paste i once got (i get ulcers BADLY) from the doctors, i cant remember the name but its worth a shot. if medical stuff isn't going to happen, apply salt or marmite directly to it (yes, it'll hurt something chronic) which will kill you for a minute but then it will remain desensitized for about an hour, it's good to do before you eat as that's the worst time when you have an ulcer!!

Unfortunately there's nothing that will get rid of them, quicker, just things that will treat the symptoms. I find they're regularly linked to stress or when you're worn down (if you're suffering or just recovering from something else). I have three at the moment (although they're in their final stages). Ah well, at least they're not particularly visable on the inside of your mouth and they're not contagious in the slightest (they're not bacterial or viral based. I think it's another one of these dodgy immune responses, but I'm not entirely sure on that).

I get a major outbreak of ulcers roughly once a month. Usually I just have to stick it out. Bonjela never works to heal, just numbs. I use listerine mouthwash to try and prevent them and i just got this honey extract stuff from america which seems really good as it puts an actual seal over the ulcer allowing it to heal without being infected anymore.

Yep, you can. I have two at the moment on the soft palette there! The most painful ones are the ones you get on the side of your tongue though. You never stop knocking the thing when eatting, talking or even breathing through your mouth!
bonjela!!!!!!!!!!! is wonderous
Taking a vitamin B12 supplement seems to protect your mouth and gums from ulcers. A dentist recommended it to my Mum and she swears by it as does my Dad. I have found that since taking it my gums don't bleed anymore and I never get ulcers.
NOT BONJELA!!!
as a regular owner (????) of mouth ulcers, I can't say it loudly enough, DONT USE BONJELA! here are the reasons. it doesn't go on your ulcer properly ; it will wash off ; it stings like bloody hell ; and it doesnt ease the pain for long enough.
Instead, use: Medigel. You can get it from the chemist and it is a proper numbing effect gel. It doesn't hurt to put on, it doesn't wash away easily, and it numbs the ulcer area. Not completely so that you are in danger of biting your lip or whatever, but it properly works.
Don't go down the Bonjela avenue. So not worth it.
