diet pills- ever tried them?

i was just wondering if anyone here had ever tried diet pills and whether they thought they were good (and what brand they were), and if there were any side effects.
i'm a bit wary of them and think they might just have a placebo effect...but i'd like to know more about them cos if they do work, i might give them a try!

ah so they all probably work!
Everything I heard about them = bad. I read a magazine article on them, and they sounded dreadful, I then had a look via google and found some nasty stuff about them. Also can be tres expensive
You could try the TrimSpa ones, the ones which Anna Nicole Smith did the commercial for.

Different pills do totally different things, and what works for some people won't work for others. Trying out lots of different diets till you find the right one for you is just time consuming, but trying different diet pills is an expensive risk to take.
I'm not too sure although I've only heard bad things about them so maybe they don't work. I think excercise & eating a balanced diet are the two best ways to go about losing weight.

yeah, good idea. take something that anna nicole smith endorses, she's only a fat porn star after all.
She point was she WAS fat before taking the pills. Now she's like 140 lbs.

on a more serious note, all diet pills will have side effects. the ones which speed up the metabolic rate will entail an increase in heart rate and other things, the appetite suppressants often don't do too much good either.

You know what anna nicole used? DNP , or 2,4-dinitrophenol, a metabolic poison, look up on it if you want, it really is a magic pill. If you're willing to risk possible death, cataracts and a whole host of other stuff.

Pills are a load of crap, if you want to lose weight all you have to do is follow this blatantly obvious rule:

Energy from food < Energy 'burnt' by exercise/being alive

Anyone who has a GCSE in science should be able to understand that, geez.

its a shame theres nothing she can use on her face.
It depends what you mean by diet pills. The "lost 100lbs in a month" over the counter ones or prescription ones you need to get from your GP like sibutramine and xenical.

I had prescription ones a couple of years back and wholeheartedly recommend them. They work by suppressing the appetite so you don't get hungry and just don't eat as much. Obviously there are side effects but as they were prescribed by a doctor he monitored their effects and the progress.

So yes....I'd recommend them, they worked for me. As other posters said though, I'd be super wary of over the counter ones.
