Well I don't know anything about the anthropology course but I can tell you tha Sussex is a great uni to be at. The people are really friendly, the campus is very lively and there is a lot to do. Plus Brighton is just a great city!.

I'm only a first year, but I can safely say that the anthropology staff here are pretty damned good. There's quite a lot of emphasis on religion & ritual, political movements, and kinship, with a wide variety of options in the final year. All of this is taught from a quite critical "don't-take-our-word-for-it" point of view.

I know I'm enjoying it.
I applied for both!
I'd say Sussex, but just because I don't want to live in Scotland.
It's up to you, they're both good courses.

I think this is one I'll have to keep my mouth shut on...
Traitor!

You chose Edinburgh over Sussex.

Let's not talk about the university of London

Pfffft. First choice all the way. The fact that it's only a 30min drive from home helps, of course.

"Why yes, parents - I would like you to drop some food down. Thanks terribly."

Yeah, anyone doing it mixed with cultural studies at sussex as well (or cultural studies on it's own) that has any opinion?

My mate's not enjoying cultural studies so much. She's doing it with media and reckons that there isn't really enough choice on offer. Because it's an inter-disciplinary programme in the School of Social and Cultural Studies, various modules are taught by different members of staff from within the school. It's not apparently the most unified or coherant of subjects. Mind you, there is the flexibility that once you get to Sussex you can change. And the anthropology here is pretty damned good, if a tad intimidating at times.

Oh dear, hope there isn't too much difficulty in changing to single anth if i don't like the cultural studies then. I don't even remember why I applied to do a joint degree to be honest, I was rather suprised to see that I had

I did loads of cultural studiesy stuff but under the old school system (pre-HUMS and all that lot) and I found it really interesting. It gave me a different slant on my major (media) and I liked that I could pick modules that were closely linked or completely different to media stuff. I also did better in it than in media which was handy!
