High protein foods can also contain a lot of fat, there is little focus on other essential nutrients, and reducing carbohydrates just means there is less easily stored energy available.

Captain Chaos
Just off the top of my head, something which would at least help you adhere to the diet:

Breakfast: Bacon & Scrambled (or however else u like them) eggs.

Lunch: Salami, smoked salmon, cheese

Dinner: Tuna steaks and salad with tomatoes and buffalo mozarella.

These foods that I've highlighted are fattening.
Lets see:

Morning: Wake up and brush teeth trying to get rid of the horrible horrible smell of your breath atkins leaves you with.

Breakfast:Then some bacon, dripping with fat with cheese hanging off and maybe a handful of nuts

Lunch: Nuts and cheese, bit of chicken, bacon, bit more cheese...

dinner: Chicken and steak with tomatos.

Yep, even if you just think about fruit you've buggered the diet up.

Dr Atkins died an obese man.

Given that the atkins diet advocates high fat and high protein, why is your first point a problem?

Also, there are plenty of high protein foods which are low in fat - chicken, turkey, egg whites, lean meats, the list goes on.

Less easily stored energy available? Thats not the premise of Atkins at all.

Did Dr Atkins follow his diet then? Just because he designed a diet doesn't mean he follows it, fruit does indeed bugger up the diet, but cruciferous veggies are fine.

High fat is going to aid weight loss? Most excess weight is fat...

It is easier to break down carbs than fats.

How are they fattening? Eating fat doesn't make you fat.

"Most excess weight is fat" - errr, what other kinds of excess weight are there? Explain to me how eating a high fat diet is going to impede weight loss plans exactly?

"It is easier to break down carbs than fats" - your point being what exactly?

Fat has a higher calorific value per gram than carbs or protein. Therefore, if you dont use this extra energy, it is more likely to be stored in the body tissues.

Yes, he infact did. it was well documented how he enjoyed to reap the benefits of his own diet high in fat low in anything in proportion.

He died 18 stone 6lbs

If you don't use any extra energy the body will store it, what source that energy comes from only makes a small difference. Basically, you don't know what you're talking about. Don't go advising people about what type of diets they should follow if this is the case.

That must mean atkins doesn't work then, because one fat person was on the diet.
