i have applied via UCAS for second year entry. I have already emailed departments about consideration and they have agreed. However, it’s been around 2 weeks since submitted application and I was hoping to find out when I could realistically begin to receive offers

Average decision time is 9 weeks, but likely to be longer for transfers. Anytime betwen now and May basically.

No, parents don’t have anything to do with a UCAS application.

Your source of funding might need some update from them I guess.

Hello,
I am currently a Natural Science Student at KCL and I hate it here, I want to switch to UCL Natural Science but I have only attended for one semester, would UCL allow me to enter for the second semester. Furthermore, at A levels I achieved AAB which is the minimum with contextual offer, would they enable me to directly attend?

I will be honest with you. It is very very unlikely, that UCL will allow you to switch for a second semester unless you have a very good exceptional circumstance e.g. bereavement etc. However, contact the school over the phone to find out directly. But most likely they might consider applications for second year transfer.

I don't know of any UK universities that allow mid-year transfers in. Have you spoken to UCL - they might not accept transfers at all for NatSci but may encourage you to apply for year 1 entry through UCAS starting in 2025. Your results from first year at KCL can be combined with your A levels to boost your chances.

i am in the process of applying to transfer to another universities London to a midland university i have already emailed them last year (2023) and (2024) both times they said to apply to ucas , and i asked them what they would like to consider someone to transfer onto their course and they said to past all your in first year modules and have a really good portfolio which is fine cuz with that information i worked really hard to not only pass all of my modules for aim for first in them so i think i am fine for that part and i know my portfolio is good because i got a internship with big company over the summer, so i work really for last year to get enough things to prove that able to transfer and will have a good refence from my uni lecture as last year i showed rally good work ethic and more.

the only thing that is scaring me is my alevels, i wont lie and say i got the best alevels ever, during my alevels times i was going tough time and didnt get the best, but i feel like that would be the only thing that make my application scary as they aren't the best alevels , but they have said that are looking at my year 1 grades and architecture portfolio i know i would have gotten onto that course if i did a foundation there , but applying from second year entry.

i thinking of applying to 2 similar courses to better my chances of getting into that university but i don't know if that's right, or if that could affect my application, because there's on course i really want to into , to help forward to my step to getting my part one for architecture which i defo want to get into , but there's a similar course but i wont help me qualify for the part one architecture. so im really stuck in that position

i have already sorted out accommodation if i were to get the spot due, knowing that prices for accommodations do increase after news years , which is fine if weren't to get the spot i would just have to show the accommodation that i didnt get the spot and they would release me from the contract so im fine that field , and i also got the accommodation as i talked to uni lectures about me transferring and they are some what confident that i will get into the university based off the regulations the RIBA have for each architecture course in the uk

should my personal statement be focussed more on my academic performance, willingness to learn etc., or my reasons why id rather be there than here? Because right now mine is basically the same one I wrote when applying from school last year just with more up-to-date anecdotes and stuff and I clarify that I'm in my first year at another uni.
I think its decent but I have a feeling that I took the wrong approach. I still have time (8 days) to write a whole new thing but thats a stupid idea.
What do you reckon?

I’d concentrate on academics. If they need more info about your reasons for moving they can always ask.

@PQ - any advice on this?

I am unsure whether year 1 at Scots is Level 3 or 4 or whether it's sufficient to be labelled as Year 1.

I've since gotten in touch with UCAS who said I can put it down as a degree and enter my modules from just this year. Just putting this here for anyone with the same question

It’s not a DipHE unless that’s what’s you’ve been awarded and leaving with. For transfer of credit it’s fine to put year 1 or incomplete undergrad or somesuch.

Please just select “other UK” and write in “year 1 BA/BSc subject”
Don’t put that you’ll have a degree or a DipHE for completing year 1.

Diploma supplement just refers to a specific type of transcript. It doesn’t mean that’s the qualification awarded.

I wanted to know how strict university are with A level grades and if getting a 1st or a 2:1 would be more important factor? Like is it possible that a university take into consideration the huge improvement from A level compared to the 1st year at university? Also lastly would mentioning being 1st in family to go university or having free school meals help with application?

Son has started Exeter university the course does not start until next week. Is it too late to transfer to Queen Mary as he’s so homesick and hates being 7 hours away rather than 1.5 hours?
