I cant take uni anymore....

people have kept telling me stick at it it will get better, just finnish these modules and try the next they may be better

but now i have had the last straw i dont know what to do anymore

all my assignments i have handed in have been crap i would never have handed that quality in if i was in school but i simply didnt care there is no way i would have passed them

i have missed quite a few lectures and seminars too and i was just on the uni website and i have found out i have an assessment to be in on monday on something called spss that i have never heard of before- this has just brought me to tears i have no idea what to do about it as i missed the last 2 lessons and classes have now finnished for the subject

i dont know what i am doing here anymore, i hate the work and the lectures its just so boring and uninteresting i cant be bothered to do the work

exams start monday i have done no revision doubt i will to - i wont even be able to blag the exams because i havent even been to lectures and seminars to learn the basics

the only good thing about uni is living away from home - i love it and the fact i met my bf here

please someone tell me what to do i feel like i am stuck in a rut
hummmm.....it seems u just have a lack of passion and interest in ur course and has nothing to do with u personaly. just out of interest what course are u doin? why did u apply for that course etc? the best thing u could do would be to change course next year if thats possible. prehaps u should talk to someone who knows u better as they might be able to give u better advice. good luck with ur exams, we all feel unmotivated to revise for them but its just something we have to do. hope things pick up for you soon

The way I see it, you have three options:

1. Do nothing. However, if you continue with your current approach to your course, you may find yourself failing at the end of the year, in which case you will have to face the same problem again.

2. Continue with the course but make a radical change to your work ethic: go to all your lectures and seminars, catch up on work you've missed, and really try and do well in your exams. You may find that the course is much more enjoyable when you're on top of the work - few of us enjoy doing things we're struggling with. If you still find that the course is not something you enjoy, there's always option 3.

3. Change courses and do something you will enjoy more.

SPSS is kind of a more complicated excel package.... you use it for statistics and graphs etc..
what kind of project do you have to do on it?

is there any way that you can find the lecture notes on the uni system that you could atleast have a little look through to try and get some knowledge??

You dont seem happy with your course at all.. follow your heart, do what you think is best.. if you decide to drop out and reapply, or maybe just try transfer courses after this year? do what will make you happy, you have got to live with itxx

Alright, I missed one of my courses last semester for 2 months. I ended up paying a girl some money for her to photocopy her notes for me...try that. I pulled an A in that class btw, so it wasn't all crap.

Change your work ethic and ban "worthless hobbies" including, if this applies, the internet. Don't waste your energy/time on stuff that don't matter.

If you hate your major, change it. If you can take it, you just need motivation. Get some study buddies to help motivate you. Find the dorkiest person in your course and set up times for you to study together.

Im sorry I cant be much help because I dont want to tell you to quit but it seems something thats not worth carrying on if your not gaining anything from it. Not being at uni yet I wouldnt know, but are there any course directors you could get advice from?! and just say it how it is. What youve said here tell them. Because they wont get offended or anything, they dont want people to be doing a course they dont want to be on. I dont know.....But I hope everything works out for you soon!

I'm afraid I don't know about changing courses - I would start by seeing if there is a course which you think would be more to your liking, and take it from there. If it's a course at the same university, I presume it's a matter if discussing it with them, otherwise I'm not sure. No doubt someone more knowledgeable will post some advice.

only 1 thing u can do..... stop being so bloody lazy!!
I was in exactly the same position as you this time last year, doing a course I'd wanted to do ever since I can remember, but once I was actually doing it I hated it! Only you know if you think things can get better doing this course. If you feel inside you that it isn't right for you, then despite what people are saying about it maybe getting better, you have to do what is right for you...

If your personal tutor is any good then I would speak to them about the problems you're having. Also, try and speak to a careers advisor at your uni. I thought they were just about graduating students finding jobs, but they can actually advise you about anything to do with your course, transferring to a different course, uni etc. If you go into your careers office and tell them you urgently want to see someone then they should be able to fit you in that day. It's too late in the year to start a different course, but there are still options open to you... transferring to a similar course, sticking out the year and starting something new next year etc. It's gotta be about what will make you happy, not everybody else. Good luck with whatever you decide to do :hugs:

P.S. Feel free to PM me if you wanna talk. I was in your position last year and know how tough it can be...

Sounds like me when i first went to uni - i rarely went to lectures and gave up handing things in...i quit after easter...took a gap year and reapplied to a diff uni and a different course. Was just what i needed.

Dare I ask...why did you come to uni? Are you just there for the experience? Cos believe me, that's a pretty expensive experience.

I know people like you at uni, and I have no sympathy.
You don't deserve or need 'help' from anyone - you're the one who got yourself into this situation and as such it is your actions that will ultimately get you out of it. There's no point in whining now just because it's finally dawned on you that skipping lectures/seminars perhaps wasn't the cleverest idea in the world.
just leave....get a job or do a course...
