Most people pay around a grand for their first year of driving regardless of their age now.

I'm paying £680, third party, fire, and theft coverage only. I've had my car about a year and been driving less than a year (with license I mean, I was driving in my car with my ma as a learner for about a year ago)

The Minimum I can get at 17 is £3000 for a '98 saxo. That's 3rd party too. Outrageous.

Having past my test last month i've just paid out £1300 for car insurance (ouch).

Out of interest (assuming you don't have other drivers on your policy which will lower the premium) how much do you pay and how long have you been driving for?

£1300 is good- especially for saying you have only just passed your test. I know its a lot but most people end up paying a lot more.
This year i paid £660 for fully comp insurance on my micra. That was with me having my licence for a year and having a years no claims. My mum and dad are named drivers on my policy too.

I dont think so mate. Ive seen people on here get quotes of £4000+. I think the fact you have been driving for 15 years shows how out of touch you are with insurance for young drivers. Insurance has gone up a lot in the 15 years you have been driving.

Indeed - in fact, I've rang up several young drivers insurance specialists recently (i.e. i-kube, Young Marmalade, A-Plan, Thames City)

When I rang i-kube up and blagged that the cheapest quote I'd had was £2000 he actually advised me to snap their hands off, as the average price he'd seen was £3000.

25 year old female, approx £900. License almost 4 years, no ncb, 2.0 litre. My quote with Diamond was £900+ but when they realised I had a child, it went up to £1800.
20 Year old Male, £2000 for 1.4L Seat Leon with no ncb and license for almost 2 years.

£17 a month.

Is that a trader's insurance policy or fleet insurance?

Think mine was around £550 for the last year, but I'm very much expecting it to increase this year given the change in European law. I'm 27, have had my licence for 8 years and have 5 years NCB - I was only a named driver on my parents' car for the first 3 years. I think the £550 for this year is the most I've ever paid, which is mostly due to moving to a dodgier postcode (SE16 is in general much less nice than CB1!) and buying a nicer more powerful car.
