No, because religion is not always a positive thing.
If someone does something awful because of their religion them the news people should have every right to say 'this was done because of religion'. Which is inherently negative. There's no way to make that sound positive.

Of course not. If something bad has happened due to religion then it shouldn't be portrayed positively. However I'm not sure there's much point in generally portraying religion negatively either.
I think religion in the media should be portrayed fairly neutrally because it's something that the world is never going to agree on. Portraying it one way or another isn't generally going to change anyone's views, all that happens is that a big bunch of people get pissed off whichever way it's portrayed by the media.
