Not sure if anyone else had heard this, but a couple of Churchill college students played a nasty prank...

They were fined £1250...

Any views?

Hmmmmm.... very sick and wrong, but also creative.

And they look so smug in the photo...

With so many animal rights activists around cambridge, they should fear for their well being...

What do you expect? Looking at the Churchill building it looks like the place where they torture and experiment on animals!! Hehe - (that is a joke) - although I have to say Churchill is not the prettiest building I have ever laid my eyes on...

Unfortunately you will have to get used to it, considering you may well end up with a "balcony view" of churchill from your room!

Tehe. Imagine having "abandoning a hamster in circumstances likely to cause suffering" on your criminal record. That would raise a few eyebrows if you had to have it checked for any reason...

Poor hamster though. :frown:

One of them went to my school - they got expelled in their second last year...

pair of w**kers. They both need a kick in the head. Which i would be happy to personally administer if i was suitably 'plastered.'

Reply 11

I'm sorry, but it still doesn't beat the group of people a couple of years back that won a goldfish in a bag and some helium balloons at a fayre, and put two and two together...

Yay, let's hurt people because they 'drunkenly' almost hurt animals!

I don't agree with the people who want violent recriminations against them, what with being a pacifist and all that, eh? I do, however, think their actions were sick and wrong!

Yeah, I will have to get a first in the second year or be extremely lucky in the ballot to wind up in Gate House Court next year! Although, it would actually be in my fourth year as I plan to go to France for a year... You can't really see Churchill from there though can you?

No they weren't expelled they are still here, though about a grand poorer

I would do more than fine the bastards, what is more pathetic and cowardly than torturing a defenceless animal? (I know that this kind of thing has been said before, but i firmly believe it). And I am not a lunatic animal rights protestor, i agree that some scientfic research is regrettably unavoidable, but this kind of thing makes me sick. Even the pricks who did that thing to the goldfish need a slapping.

Hmmm, interesting TCS read. Apparently they didn't seem drunk to the same shop that refused to serve them 2 weeks earlier for being inebriated... and the statement they read after the ruling? Don't send the hamster, idiots, if you don't want to spend enough money to buy water for 84 African villages

In all seriousness i doubt that they were drunk on this occasion, especially as they had tried to do the same thing previously (albeit whilst intoxicated the first time). Probably just a bull**it excuse for their sadism. How convenient it is to simply plea 'oh, but i was drunk,' and how difficult it is for anybody who thinks otherwise to challenge this defense.

But that isn't a defence in any court of law, if anything it is an aggravating factor.
